Daily Prompt:  Harmony

I’m all for knights in suits of armor

Admiring princesses, expressing ardor

Old time romance as pictured in

The movies with Bogart and Flynn

Who said fervent words, but so tender

It’s a whole new concept with today’s gender

Moon and croon and meet in the garden

Turns into quick texts of words more hardened

It’s less about love and more about sex

No longer asking for a doorstep peck

But a full on romp and not just in the hay

Where is the romance, is there any today?

Is it just “get it on” without delay?

Guess I’m just too old for this day.

Thinking with too much irony

Should just “go along” in harmony.

My Stuff Writing Challenge

My Stuff Writing Challenge, copying you, Suze. 💐

This is my wedding ring. We picked it out at the PX in Massachusetts, after he was discharged from the Army, and before he left for Denver to see his folks. It’s plain white gold. We also picked out an engagement ring which is now in the great beyond, broken. The diamond was replaced on my fortieth birthday, after the original was lost in the garbage disposal. I have not taken off the wedding ring since my wedding day, fifty-one years ago. It’s part of me, my life, my stuff.

Diary Entry April 22, 2017

April 22, 2017
Dear Diary,

It’s a dark and gloomy day. Raining again of course. I don’t know whatever possessed me to come to this climate. Well of course I do, it was her. She was like a bolt of lightning, one quick strike to my heart, and then gone. We thought it over for a while, sent promising letters filled with passion, but never thought it could be a real thing. It was only a dream. I believed in that dream, but I’ll only admit that to you, my secret conspirator. Writing to you makes everything seem possible.

I’m meeting her today. I’m carrying you with me to prove how much I have needed her for so long. It’s been a long lonely time, waiting for this meeting. I guess I’ll get used to this weather. After all, I’ll have her, at last.

100 Word Wednesday –

They sat at the table, watching the waves. This was one of their numerous return visits to the lighthouse. It was where they first met, when she was a curious visitor and he was the lighthouse keeper. Many years ago he found her at the top of the structure, where no visitors were allowed. The minute he saw the sun on her hair, he was smitten. She started and turned to find his smile equally attractive. They have been together ever since their first meeting. It was truly love at first sight, but everlasting as well.

A to Z Challenge – S is for Snow!

Today’s weather – Did someone say Spring?

The picture below was taken in 1972 in Colorado. It was the biggest snowman we’d ever seen, and the first one the kids actually built. We had just moved from Texas and were surprised by a huge snowstorm. It was a delight for me since I hadn’t seen snow since 1966, and the kids had never seen it. It was even snowman building snow, what a treat!

Tale Weaver – The Moon

There it was, menacing look to it, he thought. Peeking out from those clouds, hiding your light, but keeping an eye on us, nevertheless. Something strange about a peeking moon, just giving you enough shine to make everything seem eerie, as if tempting odd behavior and mystical creatures out of their hiding places.

He slowly, carefully put the garbage sack in the bin. Watching over his shoulder, he was expecting something to jump out and frighten him. He tried to shrug off this feeling of trepidation. Something weird is going to happen tonight, I can feel it; as his thoughts compelled him, he turned to survey the neighborhood. Nothing moving, well nothing visible, he chuckled. It was a nervous reaction to his own fear.

Evil moon, you’re not getting the best of me! He hurriedly went back into the safety of his home and drew the curtains.
