My Stuff Writing Challenge, copying you, Suze. ๐
This is my wedding ring. We picked it out at the PX in Massachusetts, after he was discharged from the Army, and before he left for Denver to see his folks. It’s plain white gold. We also picked out an engagement ring which is now in the great beyond, broken. The diamond was replaced on my fortieth birthday, after the original was lost in the garbage disposal. I have not taken off the wedding ring since my wedding day, fifty-one years ago. It’s part of me, my life, my stuff.

Last year Damyanti Biswas issued a challenge to write about a cherished object. I can definitely see that connection in today’s response to the My Stuff Writing Challenge. ๐

The blog fest looks great. I’m not a writer, I just fiddle around.

I rarely take my ring off – and when I do, it remains as an impression – as if my finger has formed itself to it. There is a metaphor somewhere in that.

My sweet husband and I opted for no rings when we got married ten years ago, Cheryl. Our tokens of devotion consisted of an infinity sculpture he carved for me and a hula I danced for him. ๐ xoxoM

51 years is a long time. I can’t take my ring off now because my knuckle is getting bigger with arthritis.
