Reflections on A to Z Challenge

“Something So Right” hits me again…gotta love Paul Simon….but I guess I’m supposed to review the A to Z Challenge. I read and commented on any I could see. I think it was a great learning experience, and liked the posts I read. I am not as busy as most of you, so I had no problem doing it. However I’m not proud of all of them. As usual, I just write, hardly edit my thoughts. Sometimes it gets a read and sometimes not. That’s blogging! Thanks to all who participated, I enjoyed it!😊

Daily Prompt:  Bitter

Today did not start out well. Then it got worse, and I started feeling this Prompt, which somedays seems to hit the nail on the head.  I was bitter, bitter about something I couldn’t have prevented, shouldn’t have been feeling bitter about. Some days it just hits you like that. On another day you just take it in stride, the old life sucks, and then…..

Today I didn’t. Do I wish I had? Yes. Do I plan on it in the future? Of course.

No promises.

Share Your World – May 8 2017

Hello people! Started out rotten, then good, then sad, mad, and now I’m okay with all of it! So on to Ceenphotography.com’s questions and answers for SYW:

😊😊😊😊😊😊😊💗😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊💗😊😊😊😊😊😊😊💕😊😊😊😊

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^Thought I’d say thank you to y’all, before I start.

1. Footwear at home when I’m alone is SOCKS! Or bare feet because it’s easier than slipping with socks. But if I’m sitting on the bed, I prefer socks.

2. My favorite food as a child was probably wild strawberries, the little ones you never see anymore. It was an uphill trek to the patch, but worth it. It was just difficult to put them in the bucket instead of eating them all.🍓

3. I agree with Suze. Both.  Most of my “talking” I do right here.

4. I write, not always fascinating fare I admit, but it works for me.

5. Wasn’t this from last week?🙃 My method of learning is seeing, then doing.

I am grateful that my grandson so far, only has a concussion from Saturday’s header in a soccer game. Was in the ER and is home today, but keep your fingers crossed he’s okay. I think heading the ball should be outlawed in high school and younger sports.

I am looking forward to spending some time with my granddaughter who just came home Friday from her first year of college.

😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍Have a great week everyone!😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍

Daily Prompt:  Exposed

When writing my blog

Might put eyes agog

When revealing my secrets here

I try to be open,

Usually outspoken

Keeping most inner thoughts near

If you knew my life

It’s no song from a fife

Some does not smell like a rose

But friend you I will

Hope you read me still

Even when I am exposed.

MLMM- First Time

Usually when someone writes of a “first time” the subject is sex. But I’m not going that route. My first time will be the first day of work, at an actual job. Not my first job, but an actual, fill-out-forms-for-taxes type job.

The first day of work was my eighteenth birthday. High school graduation over, lovely summer of travel to my father’s birthplace — actually where I live now, Wyoming. I had taken the Civil Service exam in school, scored highly on it, so was offered a job at the Cold Regions Research Engineering Laboratory (USACRREL) in New Hampshire. I was a shy, naive girl, but so very excited to start my new job. My intent was to earn enough money to enable me to attend a secretarial college.

I remember how intimidated I was upon meeting my co-workers, aka bosses. Two middle aged men whose favorite activity, it seemed, was to see just how red my face could get before the day’s end. What would now probably be called sexual harassment was possibly their intent? The only detail I’ll give is the singing of their apparent favorite song, “She has freckles on her butt…..she is nice”. Go ahead laugh. Everyone thought it was a great joke because I was a redhead and wore no makeup at the time and did have freckles.

I did my job well and earned the promotion of working downstairs in the Photographic Interpretation Research Department (PIRD). Of course learning the government way of doing everything was much different than the classes I had taken on filing, bookkeeping, etc, but I was a fast learner.

I was glad to be out of the first small office atmosphere and moved into a larger area where I was the only secretary to a few scientists. They were all men and polite and fun to work for. My shorthand skills were utilized constantly. The first time I took dictation from the head of the department I was a nervous wreck. I learned new words such as photogrammetric; try writing that in fast shorthand when you’ve never heard it before!

I loved all of these guys. They were respectful and helpful. I also loved the job and of course, met my husband, so the secretarial college plans disappeared.

Sunday Photo Fiction

There it sits
In all it’s glory
Works in stints
Holds your stories
Communication elite
And it’s such a treat
No landline mess
I must confess
It’s a treasure
Beyond measure.
I have one of these
And use it with ease

I need it you see
It’s a fait accompli
For if I need help
Does no good to yelp
I need the phone
To undo my prone
Body that lies
On ceramic tiles.

So this item that’s pictured
May receive stricture.
You may be in doubt
I can’t live without
This modern convenience
But I need intervenience
Of the medical sort
To relay my report
“I’ve fallen and I can’t get up!”

I hear you laughing,
But it’s truly baffling
When you lose your cool
And fall off a stool
You need the phone
If you’re lying prone
On the kitchen floor
And can’t reach the door.

This “poem” is too long
So I’ll end with a song.
If you have a granny
Or even a nanny
You need a cell
To use if unwell.
The song? You ask
Oh, take me to task.
I’ll take this approach:
Remember Jim Croce?
With his song “Operator”?

Here it is:

Saturday – Hmmm

I cleaned out the refrigerator.  Found beef sausage, cabbage that needed to be used, onion.  My middle son calls this German cooking.  I sliced everything and since I was so hungry at the time, I used canned white potatoes.  I didn’t want to wait for the “real” ones to cook.  Besides, the large baking potato is another meal in itself.

It only took about fifteen minutes after I cleaned up the cutting board, knives, spilled onion outside leaves, and a few airborne cabbage bits.  Yes, I admit I’m a messy cook.  Delicious, if I do say so.  I am a simple….watch out what you’re thinking now… cook.

One of my sandwich specialties is tuna salad.  Care to join me?  Wait, I need celery for that.  Wait till Wednesday, pay day, then come.🙄🌸
