#TankaTuesday Poetry Challenge: Word Garden, 10/22/24, #syllabicpoetry
This week’s Story Starter teaser is:
The door was closed, and as I put my hand on the handle, I felt afraid of what I might find once I opened it. The sounds were slightly familiar, but couldn’t be, that would be crazy! I put my ear to the wooden facade and listened as best I could. Nah, I was hearing a tv going, so I slowly opened the door. There they were, standing in a line, entertaining my five year old son and my wife. Seven little men.

Fandango’s Story Starter #172

“Honestly George, you intentionally want to irritate me, don’t you?”
“Why, whatever do you mean? I thought a date night would go rather well.”
“Date night? What are we, sixteen? We have been married for thirty- five years and you are just now talking about date nights?”
“Now, now, you said just the other day, you said we were getting trite and needed some excitement.”
“You call this exciting? Yes I love art, but I have no idea what this is, certainly not a Monet!”
“Well, I thought this avant-garde art museum would stimulate our old ways of thinking, you know, spice us up a bit…”
“Well it certainly did stir up a conversation, but this? This is not art, it’s a kindergarten display!”

Simply 6 Minutes – Welcome to the Challenge:10/22/2024

Truthful Tuesday: October 22nd, 2024

Halloween flames are burning
Cemeteries aglow
Something floating, turning
In the night breeze flow
It oversees the pumpkins
Guarding them from knives
Which make them into jack-o’-lanterns
With weird mouths and eyes
It’s so humiliating
Every ghost agrees
That is why they fly above
Sometimes stuck in trees
They give their lives if needed
Guarding the odd shaped squash
At Halloween they’re needed
When pumpkin carvers are awash.

I love autumn colors best but I also enjoy a budding pink tree.
🌸
lowly crab apple
now it is your time to shine
lovely pink blossoms
deer venture out from their lairs
to munch upon your beauty

Haibun Monday 10-21-24: Fall foliage or Spring blossoms

The tree was hollow, the bark disturbed
A posted note of sadness referred
A shallow mind, a careless point
Two bottles shared, the truth appoint
The ring returned, the couple leave
See a marriage’s love deceived.

**Di, this was the most difficult of them all, think it’s me😀
MLMM Monday Wordle #395

I’ll tell a sad tale of a mole
Peeked out of his small home, a hole
It was a mistake
Got smashed by a rake
He should have stayed under the knoll.
–
I started the poem with a mole
Completely forgetting the pole
I should have reread
What the prompt said
Think I’m losing my poet role.

Laughing Along With A Limerick

Finally, it happened
Free at last
Oppressing waves that held her
In the ocean of her past
She was drowning
Breathless in her guilt.
Then suddenly lightened
Feeling she could fly
Out of the mire
Of wanting to die.
The burden now lifted
Her mind justly quieted
She feels free at last.
