Ghuttan, a perfect word for the feelings I have
It’s not that I’m completely sad
But breath taken in seems short and fumbled
Every news article is rumbled
When will it stop, this frustration
When will it stop, refresh our nation
Leaders here are unconscionable
Walking streets is unreliable
Safety gone along with compassion
When will it stop, this frustration?

Cheryl, I love how your repeated “When will it stop” makes the poem itself struggle for breath, giving a voice to the very frustration that threatens to choke it!

thank you , Cheryl … 🤍
