My sister did just that and found a couple of witches in our past. Of course my immediate family would say that it’s not surprising! One poor woman died in prison before she could be drowned and one other committed suicide before they were going to burn her. No secrets I ever wanted to know.
Of course, the vast majority of folks who were accused of witchcraft weren’t. They wouldn’t have considered themselves witches. They would have described themselves as good Christians who were maybe weird, or successful and so had people who didn’t like them, or who knew herbs…
