is there hope for the coming new year
can better hearts and minds see clear
future wanted to hold dear
the old that disappears
like sand through fingers
slips so quickly
sadly leaves
with hope
gone.

hi, Cheryl❣️
Just a quick note to let you know that this week’s W3, hosted by our beloved Nolcha, is live and open until Monday:

Sorry for the delayed notice — I’m starting a new job tomorrow and was solo-parenting for two weeks, so things got a bit hectic.
Much love,
David

Cheryl, I really like how the form tightens as the hope drains — it feels quietly inevitable. That final “gone.” lands hard because everything before it lets it.

Cheryl you grabbed my attention with the poem’s question. I does seem that there is a loss of hope….

It saddens me that there has already been so much loss and heartbreak in this brand new year, it is so hard to hold on to positivity.
