People assume because my legs don’t work my brain doesn’t either. I admit I sit in a wheelchair. If I am accompanied by someone, I’m never looked at or spoken to directly. It is diminishing and frustrating, but after having to sit in one for ten years now, I am used to it, which doesn’t acquaint with resigned.

What is it with people?

I’m getting a dose of this when I go out these days in a wheelchair. Thanks for sharing Cheryl.

I can imagine how frustrating that is. I did a gap year working at a home for children with special needs. One of the teenage girls was in a wheelchair too and when we went clothes shopping they did the same to her. I always had trouble to make the “outsiders” aware that she could very well choose for herself 🤗

You should tell them not to be so fucking impolite, then gently explain to them that you have Tourette’s too.
