Abide with me, a popular hymn
Sung as a child with no unworthiness contemplated
Sure of comfort and protection from above, walking in the light.
True life experience, seeing unholiness surround,
Lack of love and kindness for each other
To truly abide seems lost.

Ah, the culture of religious hope placed in the midst of real life, innocent child in the midst of arested adults. Though not all like that, but you make the point – too many.

I’m with Sarah and the sad circle of starting with hope and ending with sadness, Cheryl. As children, the majority of us are ‘sure of comfort and protection’. How sad we grow up to experience the ‘lack of love and kindness for each other’.

Man’s inhumanity to man shows when we abide in evil…

We are living in shaky times, when many things are being questioned. I keep telling my kids, one day at a time. Go towards the light.

You start with hope and end with sadness. Such a sad circle to make.

There is a longing to return to those days when the “peace that passes understanding” seemed to settle about one.

Many do not seem to understand patience or caring for others.

Yes, “true life experience” makes it a lot more difficult to be sure of that… 😢

I think people have forgotten that patience is a virtue
