Seance

The girls were joking with their mother about spirits. The three decided to hold a seance to see if spirits really did exist. Suddenly the room’s door opened. Something seemed to float in. It was only a feeling, nothing visible. Whatever it was, sat in the empty chair between the girls. The girls couldn’t believe their eyes as the table started to rise. They all lifted their hands but the table still rose.

The girls’ mother had unwittingly welcomed a spirit. The room was dark except for a single candle burning on their rising table. They all lifted their hands, but it kept rising. Suddenly the spirit must have left because the table dropped back down. As the table stopped moving, the candle went out.

The adventure into calling spirits was not repeated but the belief was proven. The question still remains, who was the spirit that visited them?
