We should be celebrating
It is the Fourth
A remembrance of why we are all here in the first place
And yet after all these years
We’re still fighting, swimming against
Each other and the world around us
One big aquarium that needs to be cleaned and refreshed.

Interesting thought, yes given the aspirational statements from the time of the Declaration, one would expect a sense of harmony.

Yes the aquarium needs to be cleaned which means status quo is not acceptable. Calling out the problems in the aquarium doesn’t mean that you hate it. You want it to be better and have a better environment for all to swim and live in it. Some folks can’t figure that part out.

The trouble is that we are all terrified of open waters. We are in the aquarium by choice.
