I think I need this:

Movement brings me to rant about handicapped parking and people who use it that don’t need it. Last night as my daughter drove me home from the grocery, the spots near my apartment including the h. spaces were all taken. As you know we’re still having ice and snow issues and wheeling myself was useless. The wheels spin and there’s no movement. Complaints about this land on deaf ears, or something like that….rental contracts don’t seem to apply to all. Movement? Aarrrgh!

Just the other day some guy was standing next to a handicapped parking place. I pulled in and put my placard on the rearview mirror. I open the door. “Handicapped huh?” he said. I then wrestled my cane from the passinger’s side and slid out of the car. When I was able to stand with some stability, I said, “Want to fight?” He apologized. I asked him why he was harassing handicapped parkers and he mumbled something about making sure the proper people used the spaces. I left him with the idea that he needed to find something worthwhile to do.

Sorry that happened. The space in my lot is taken by a man who is entirely capable. Has no cane, etc. the real problem is he and his apartment mate take both spaces when the apt contract says one apt can use one space in this area. So they take both spaces and leave none for the rest of us that need it.

Yeah, that is nasty. Can’t the apt management do anything?

That would be scary having him standing there. The guy I’m speaking of takes the ramp space if anyone uses his space, so when I come home I can’t get up on the sidewalk, while he’s walking around yelling at others.

call the cops. what he is doing is not even close to legal. Maybe when he gets that 500 dollar ticket he will start behaving human.

I just wrote the mgt again about it. They are adamant they can’t do anything.

I have been yelled at, had things thrown at me and one extremely rude young woman actually spit at me. I park in a handicapped space. I have a heart condition, peripheral arterial disease (which sometimes makes walking almost impossible without two canes or a walker), and COPD. NONE of these things show. Yet I am disabled. I feel for you. I hate when people take the far too few spaces allotted to those of us that need them. But a quiet little reminder to others that disabilities don’t always show.

I realize that, but these people I’m talking about aren’t.

oh I know……I get angry at the ones that leave their kids or dogs in their running vehicle to run in “just for a minute”……..what i would give to “just run” again!
