I can remember using this word as a young mother. Listening to a baby sick and coughing, what can be worse than seeing your child hurting? My daughter used to get horribly sick. Sitting on the edge of her bed, holding her, while her tiny body was wracked with coughing. Her beautiful eyes with black circles under them because she was so exhausted. And a useless pediatrician who told me, if she can’t keep anything down then don’t give her anything. I changed doctors of course. This was before the fluids like Pedialyte. When we found a doctor who treated her well, I used this word, almost as a thankful prayer.
