                                     Saturday Sneers of a Starcrossed Snowman 

“Okay, who put my mouth on like this?  And those eyebrows!  Give me a break!  I’m supposed to be a holly, jolly snowman, not the witch of Eastwick!  Frosty was never fixed like this.  Maybe I need that magic hat he wore so I can dance around.  Not likely.  Any movement and I’ll fall off this ledge!  Good lord, whoever made me doesn’t have much Christmas spirit.  Perched on the edge, sure to melt easily since I’m not surrounded by cold snow, and this look?  By the way, where’s my nose, or did they put a raisin or berry so the birds would pluck it off?  At least my arms are right…showing my frustration.  Come on, sun, destroy me now!”

  4. When living in the interior of B.C. I used to build the odd snow person. Then, get out the food colour and drip it over the finished thing. As it melts, it goes interesting colours. It takes a while. Every so often, people would do that to the rock bluffs where the icicles formed. Once again rainbows.

    It snowed today, here in Victoria.. Just enough to cover the cars and parking lot. It’s one thing that Living here In Victoria B.C. does not make me wish for.

    When I worked as a Locomotive Engineer, in the 1980’s. Every so often we would get snowplow duty. You don’t see them those plows anymore. Probably all been scrapped? Mounted ahead of the engine and manned by the M. of W. guys. It was the only time you could speed and not get pulled up, to the Superintendents office. For the idea was to make the snow fly off to the sides. After an hour, the windows would be completely covered in snow and it was difficult to know where you were. Even with the heaters going full blast, in sub-zero temps that snow was like concrete. Cheers Jamie
