100 Word Wednesday – Who is Listening?

I come into this paradise

I bring my voice

I decide to settle in for a while

I lie back against your rough bark

I stretch my legs on your brown carpet

I listen to your voice, your plentiful music

And then when I am accepted

By my surroundings

When all is quiet

And previously timid creatures gather round

I smile, as all is content and waiting

I slowly open the case and reveal

My voice, my effort, my feelings

I fix my fingers on the keys

Blowing a soft sweet sound

Resonating through trees and leaves

Hoping to communicate

The compass always pointed north

Moving forward, not looking back

To achieve happiness, it was the promise,

A desire to achieve with a payoff.

What entices us to look back

Retrieve memories sad and useless

Worrisome regrets that can’t be undone

There is no reward in this.

A Cat’s Morning

Stretching, wiggling, washing it’s paws, the feral feline continued its surveillance of the wedged hedge where three upcoming baby birds happily chirped together. The temporary separation from their mother and nest sent chills up the cat’s spine and gastronomical gurgling in his empty stomach. The idea that he held a grudge against these cute creatures was horrid hogwash. The curious cat merely needed lunch after a long morning enforcing bylaw boundaries of the growing garden from snooping snakes and rummaging rats.
