Word of the Day: Kindred

Back in the day, about 2004, a little girl wanted to ride one of the miniature donkeys. Sweet animals but needed the incentive and lure of an unreachable bit of hay to keep them moving. My granddaughter came up with this method. Her mom had to get a picture.🤠
Her insight, determination and cleverness are still present today as a college senior.
And as a proud grandma–(again🙄) I appreciate the kindred.😍😎

Proud Day!

I spent yesterday watching the Loveland Fire Rescue Authority Academy graduation ceremony for firefighter recruits in Colorado. My oldest grandson, 25, was one of the 16 who accomplished the difficult, intense but rewarding training. As we parked, we were greeted by the biggest flag I’ve ever seen, waving in the perfect sunny breeze from an extended ladder truck.

C has graduated from LCCC fire school, worked in Laramie County as a firefighter and is stepping further into his career after this new training. We enjoyed a slide show of the recruits’ training accompanied by this inspirational song, “I Was Born for This”. Yeah! These men and women are heroes, the bravado of other occupations ends when they choose to step into the flames.

Song Lyric Sunday 10-13-19
I can never miss a chance to put on a favorite singer/song writer of mine, Neil Diamond. This is “Solitary Man”. You can just feel the words as he sings them. A songwriter that sings his own words in his own style makes you feel it.

Fate-another word for Murphy’s Law.
50 Word Thursday 10-11-19

Yes, the ride is smooth, a bit chilly for the summer, but I can almost see why you like it. Almost. The water is muddled, doesn’t look healthy, and I can’t imagine living on it! Think of the rats!
Mary looked at her husband’s disappointment in the supposed romantic holiday.

MLMM Saturday Mix
Love is a battlefield. It isn’t just toomato, tomahto, it is everything. Whoever said opposites attract was only talking about metal. Humans on the other hand, profess to adore in the beginning and then the little things like life, the spoken word, the normal actions of a mate turn into grating realities.
Starting with the personal morning routine, stepping into lunchtime–most enjoyed away at the office and then the reunion at evening time when a spouse prefers to flop on the couch and the other wants to go out dancing. It rarely, hopefully never comes to fisticuffs, but living and loving together is a war won by acceptance, love and patience.

TMAT Prompt – Song of Life

“I’ve been so many places in my life and time” – “A Song For You” by Donny Hathaway said perfectly. I’ve made a lot of bad rhymes, here on the blog and metaphorically. But that is life, if you really live it, take chances, go where you’re afraid to go, do what sometimes does not come naturally.
Growing up I had dreams, not necessarily livable ones, or even practical, but all children should have dreams. I was one of the lucky ones and had many. Life happens, and you have to remember you can’t control all of it, so settle back and try to enjoy the ride.
The biggest change I’ve had in life was losing my husband, coping afterwards.
