#writephoto and Word of the Day: Stumble

No sounds except the snow softly landing on my shoulder.

I catch a glimpse of the frozen star shapes gone too quickly on my vest

As I stumble upon a beautiful creature

I’m sure he’s watching me, wondering if I’ll cause him harm

Instead I quietly hide behind the trees, taking in his natural proud beauty.

What an incredible gift, a silent communication of two curious souls.

MLMM Tale Weaver #245

A short anecdote from 1999, shopping with my daughter and three year old granddaughter who was of course tired and ready to go to her promised reward of a lunch at McDonalds.

My daughter and I were reviewing possible purchases and apparently took too long. My granddaughter spouted, “the bag or not?” , meaning, are we getting this or not? It’s still a favorite phrase we use today for making up our minds.

FOWC: Spider / 31 Days of October

Apologies to any spider lovers. . .

I refuse to look

See the spider there

Without my glasses I can stare

‘Cause then it’s just a big black blob

I want no details,

Prefer the view fogged.

However, that doesn’t stop my will

As I roll past, I get a chill

Hoping it will stay it’s track

Till I return with the handheld vac

Whirred him into the canister thus

Now die, intruder! Among the dust.

Write me some treats Prompt (Reblog)

I used a photo of my nephew taken in Vermont for this post:

What manner of specter are you

The grave digger asked his view

I’m not ready for my ending ride

And how are you justified?

I’ve led a good life, done my best

Put many good souls here to rest

Why are you standing there

Not time to climb my final stair

No, I still have work to do

Go away, you reaper boo

Halloween is months away

Suppose I’ll see you again that day

Meanwhile I have a job that’s never done

Thanks to you, the bludgeoning one.

50 Word Thursday 10-17-19

Delighted to see the old boathouse had been kept up, sporting the beautiful berry red on the green setting of the hill. Many stories had been told to her children of delightful memories held by this lake and its surroundings. The three jumped down along each step, ready for adventures ahead.

The Goodbye

I held her tightly, but she still trembled. Soothing her brow with a cool cloth didn’t seem to help. I tried talking to her, pressing my lips to her ear so she would hear how much I loved her, needed her to stay. Her eyelashes fluttered in recognition, as if she realized time was short. I held her face and pressed a soft, last dying kiss on her cold lips.

Personal…isn’t it always?

I woke up feeling down like we all do from time to time. With cloudy cold settling in it comes more often. Then I received snapchat mornings from the grandkids and saw the blurb below from the Washington Post.

I rarely get choked up by reading the news, usually just frustrated, but this got me laughing…not because it’s funny. . . because it’s so beyond ridiculous, how can it not be ridiculed? It is laughable to me how far this buffoon can take his supposed power. Every day it’s a newly “huh?” At least for me. I couldn’t let this go without a jibe.

I stopped shaking my head in disbelief a few seconds ago so now I’m having coffee. 🙄😳🤯
