This week Jim asks us to think about the concept of what I call the golden rule. Here is my take on it: Jackie Deshannon with “Put a Little Love in Your Heart”.

The ongoing saga of the online shopping basket experience continues. Several emails back and forth and five days later the King Soopers charge for an order they cancelled during it, was taken off my bank account. There was a problem with the POS system my “personal shopper” was using, which begs the question, how do they charge you before the order is completed? The shopper kept texting me saying they were out of — and she credited it, but hey, I was charged for the whole order already!
A customer service phone call assured me the trouble would be rewarded with a $30 credit which of course I haven’t seen. KrΓΆger, who owns King Soopers and many others, writes emails wanting me to send feedback, etc. This is getting old. I yielded with a response, but all I really want to say is, “Fix it!” At least with an order from Amazon, they credit your account immediately, even before they get the return item.
Of course, I’ll not use online grocery shopping again. I’m not fond of companies that take before they give and then delay. Those of us on fixed incomes don’t shop willy nilly and can’t afford two monthly grocery bill charges. Asking someone to take me is the way I’ll have to go, even though it’s a pita!

You weaved this web of permanence
I am forever caught
Your web of love is a trap
You have built and wrought
You faked innocence
I faked worldly wiles
Both of us together now
For too long a while
Waiting for this web to fall
Rust to nothingness
Releasing us of our plight
Undo first willingness.

You can see it in my eyes
Gold orbs trimmed in black
I feel a certain attraction
Of which I think you lack.
No worries, it’s a fact I think
A witch’s brew will do the trick
Sip it slowly, drink it down
The spell is in the drink.
Now don’t you feel better?
It won’t take long I’m sure
Then you will feel as I do
My irresistible allure.

No sound in the world could compare
To when my mother tries to scare
Every atmosphere is breached
When she lets out her screech.
Banshees have no such a voice
If you need loud,
My mom’s your choice
Witches fall off their brooms
Lakes of loons
Feel their dooms
Beware I tell you,
It will curdle your rice pudding
If you dare to visit, pad your hooding!

“Welcome to Podcast 500! Today we’re interviewing the envy of all Bon Vivants with particular reference to wine selection. May I introduce, Sir James Burgundy, a well known vintner in this area? Welcome Sir Burgundy!”
“Please, call me James”, said with an excess of superiority. “Yes, I do own the most magnificent vineyards here but you would be incorrect in assuming I own them all. I have a company and stock holders, employees. . .”
“Anyway, let’s not get off on a tangent, James. Time is short on these interviews. Could we flip past the minutiae and get straight to tasting your favorite selections?”
“Why certainly”, replied Sir Burgundy, as he proceeded to open the red wines before him. The host grabbed the crystal glass with his large spongy looking fist and quickly swished, sniffed and downed the first selection. “It would be wise to let the wine breathe a little before tasting, in order to receive the entire sensation of fragrance and taste.”
“Like I said, Jim, this is a fifteen minute show.”
