Song Lyric Sunday

The affectionate name in our family used to be punkin starting when I was pregnant with our first child and had a five piece maternity wardrobe autumn colored. The pumpkin came from my orange jumper.

“Sugar, sugar” is what came to mind thinking of a song with terms of endearment. Apologies for format. I’ve been having problems with placement and sizing of photos on WP.

Sunday Whirl 2-2-20

It might have been a sign, or just a token of my exhausted mind, but I saw him coming through the mist. The form approached me with one arm outstretched, beckoning me towards him, and the other folded across his chest, hand on his heart.

I am not usually the type of person who gawks, but there was something about him and I couldn’t help staring. My gaze was fixed on that beckoning arm. As he came closer, the mist seemed to surround us both and I queried maybe I was dead, maybe my life had been chopped off at age thirty and I was meant to follow this man.

I tried to lay still but felt the sensation of a rope pulling me out of bed in his direction. I fought it. I refused to be dead, I was young, I was healthy. What was this apparition? Was it an apparition? I felt my body, it was there, solid, I couldn’t be dead. I put my hands over my eyes, willing it, he, whatever it was, to go away. I wasn’t ready.

It was then the meditation tape clicked off and I sat up, suddenly awake.

3TC – Cantankerous Cat

“Okay sweetie, just sit on the stool for mommy, please?” Ethel had set up her tripod in the living room hoping to get Mimsy the cat to cooperate. The contest entries were due and she was hoping her beautiful cat perched on the stool would be a winner.

Ethel had tried everything, a soft pillow to entice her up on the stool, but as Mimsy jumped up the pillow flew out. Mimsy gave Ethel a look.

“Now Mimsy, let’s hop up so I can get a photo” as she placed a cat treat on the stool. Mimsy tried to resist. After all this was her house and maybe she didn’t feel like having her picture taken. Suddenly she jumped up and sat for about three seconds, devouring the treat. Ethel couldn’t get her into the camera frame in time and gave up on the stool. She left the tripod set up and fixed herself a cup of tea.

Later on she walked into the room and found Mimsy laid out on the stool fast asleep. Ethel smiled, “winning photo indeed”.

Sammiscribbles Weekend Writing Prompt

Alice did it, you can too

Step in to see the real you

Once you do you’ll be amazed

There’s much upon to gaze

Your face, your form, look at it well

On the passage of time do not dwell

You’ve made it through to this age

And in more years you will engage

Be happy with your face

Expressive lines show your grace.

Thankful

Family, can’t live with them, can’t live without them. . .just kidding. If it were not for the close family near me who devote some of their time to me, I’d be up the creek. Sometimes they have to renege on previous plans, but I’m very flexible. I live alone and my time is whatever I make of it. Reminds me of my dad. . .his middle initial was B. I asked what it stood for and he said busy. Life gets more busy every day.

The best part is when a shopping trip is integrated with hugs, laughter, jokes, tales of the latest debacle, practice, award, or meeting. There is plenty going on and I am thankful for all of it.

😍😍😍
