A slight luminescence draped over the stenciled gravestones, even though it was pouring rain. A funeral is out of my comfort zone, but I felt obligated as she was my favorite aunt, and when it seemed an endless thousand prayers were offered for the deceased, I did realize a lump in my throat. The rain seemed to come down in intermittent sheets and we were struggling to maintain a steady stance on sodden ground.
As the prayers ended, suddenly sunlight shone through the rain and it stopped. The mourners including me were shocked at the abrupt conclusion of rain. The sun starting as a small crack in the clouds, spread and shone down on my aunt’s gravesite. I’m not a true believer, but it seemed something phenomenal had occurred.

There’s a lot of love around here this week, and this month in general! My daughter and husband’s 27th wedding anniversary, her birthday, her daughter’s birthday on Valentines Day, my sister celebrating her 90th birthday on the 13th! Wow, a lot to celebrate!

Valentine wishes on papers of pink
Decorated boxes hold what they think
Friendly notes with a candy heart
Love begins with a scribbled start.

In a world turned upside down
I see by your reflection
You would rather be there, than here.

Loved this in the movie “Bird Cage”, but here is the original version by Sister Sledge in 1979:

A thriller this week with Alex Cross played by Morgan Freeman and a favorite actress, Ashley Judd. “Kiss the Girls” from the book written by James Patterson.

Today especially, what made me smile was the wit of some bloggers I read. I also watched a few YouTube shorts of Mark Ruffalo in the Graham Norton Show, always gives me a smile. But the most fun is snapchats from my grandchildren and their “significant others”. Even writing that term makes me smile. Shouldn’t anyone you live with be an s.o.? I guess that’s a blog for another day.
My philosophy is try to laugh at something everyday, especially yourself.

Let bygones be bygones.
Sorry, no can do. I apologize of course, but I think deep down I am not as forgiving as I would like to be. I was just getting to a place in my life where I thought, okay, I can take what I’ve been given, I can deal with it, I’m okay. That was 2015. And then Trump . And I can hear you groaning, thinking, not again, this is getting old.
And it is. I thought this morning that I will try not to let this feeling of defeat get to me. I’ll write funny stuff and I use that word because what I write is not elegant, it’s just stuff. And I will try, because that is all anyone can do–try.

All of these books about law
Written with hope to encourage and educate
Achieve nothing
Even as the learned try.
Education is nothing without empathy.
