Fandango’s Friday Flashback

Tell Me Something Good – July 10, 2017

This may not seem like much to the general public…..but I’m going to the grocery!  Yea!  Since I’m practically out of detergent, fruit and veggies, it is needed.  I have to add that having a washer and dryer inside my own apartment is a true convenience.  I’ve been the Sudsy Duds route when you have to share those items with the rest of the town, who may or may not have the same aesthetics I do.  And the money…..having the right amount of coins….always made a trip to the bank prewash-day a necessity.  Waiting for the machines to finish in the hot steamy atmosphere always a treat, not bad in the winter.

There was a grocery store a few hundred feet away, so it was convenient to shop during the thirty or twenty minutes you had between changing machines.  I was still walking then so it was good.  The most fun was being preoccupied during these “outings” if I was babysitting.  Fascination with the machines, how they worked, and especially loading coins in the slots, was a treat for kids. You also arrived home with your clothes etc, folded neatly, ready to put away.  No lazy leaving them in the dryer like I might, just might, admit to happening now.

I guess all in all, the whole experience could be put in the positive column.  It’s good to think of the little things in life to give you a positive boost.

Going to Hell

Donald Trump is right. He’s won. He said he was president and he could do whatever he wanted and has proven it true. He has proven he can bully, intimidate and rule, even over the country’s highest court! He can hide his taxes, snuff out any videos or phone call tapes, emails, to cover up his unlawful actions, fire and hire anyone he wants, and it has worked! He systematically told the world to go to hell and we are paying the price, because we as a country are now in hell. I can remember my mother talking about Truman and how she thought he was worthless, saying “we’re going to heck in a hand basket” – my mom never swore. Well it’s happening now.

As I read or hear the news everyday because I don’t think I should put my head in the sand, I am mystified at how this happened and how Trump managed to bring out the worst in everyone in such a short time. He rules waving a fist of righteousness so some people believe. And money? The hundreds of thousands of dollars to hold rallies, even in diseased areas that do not have funds or equipment for medical personnel? He actually makes untrue stupid statements about the virus, etc. How does this make sense to anyone, Trump supporter or not?

Put aside the hate monger speeches, the lies, the self important brags of misinformation, and just think for a minute, how the US has changed since he took office. It’s incredible, really, at least to me. I cannot imagine how he thinks he is the best president ever, and says so like a ten year old on a playground who just beat up a six year old. The coronavirus has brought out the worst in people, old ladies refusing to wear masks, guns pointed at everyone or anyone that might step in the wrong direction, even a machete armed person? Who carries a machete around while shopping?

My mom was right, only hell has probably never been this bad.

I would say rant over, but it will never be. The idea that courts in this land can be bullied by one man boggles my mind. Just delete.

You’ve got to be kidding me. . .

It’s obvious to me that our government refuses to adhere to medical experts’ advice, defying the basic premises and thereby providing a virtual continuation of the pandemic. Facts and sad statistics have proven that children are also vulnerable and that any age group is susceptible to this plague. Luckily my grandchildren are homeschooled so will not adhere to these new rules. Our government refuses to be culpable in this whole mess. In fact they must revel in it, referenced by their actions. The king reigns on only to benefit himself.

In the news today – so called “experts”:

What Day is it Anyway?

Technically it is Wednesday, 1:02 in the morning. I just finished watching Will Ferrell with Jerry Seinfeld on Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee (Netflix version). I love this show and after a hard day it is a great pick me up. If you have a cat you will get a great laugh watching Will when they are in a cafe and Jerry talks about getting a cat for his wife.

You know that feeling when you’ve spent hours five – ten pm on the phone, computer in a chat or on hold with customer service? I had put in a grocery order and received a text photo showing groceries at a door–just not my door. I tried to contact the deliverer and they were already offline . Trying to explain what happened over five calls and a chat, you can imagine. All said and done, I have no idea whose fault it was, or care. Deliverer said they were given the wrong address, Instacart chat person tried to blame me , said I gave the wrong address which is already established in the order app, and a confused deliverer showed up at my door twice, once to say she got it wrong but it was not her fault and an hour later to bring bags of what I don’t know. I was not about to accept delivery after the frozen and cold items had been left at someone else’s home. How she explained it was all a bit fishy and I said no thanks. Why is it never simple and straightforward?

Word of the Day: Aging

A part of aging in a person’s distress

Is a loss of taste not only in dress

Food that used to be especially delicious

Now doesn’t measure up, a plot malicious!

No wonder oldsters pile on the salt

Wanting remembered taste, not their fault!

Bodies and bones get more fragile

Losing ability to be more agile

Aging, they say is better than not

I have to agree with that happy thought.
