Midas he wasn’t, not for trying of course. It was always the help’s fault. If only they adhered to his rules. Mr. Bank had a strict set of rules for his employees. It didn’t matter he had only four, doing the jobs of twenty. It was all about the profits.

Mr. Bank liked money, especially coins–gold, silver, even copper, he loved the feel of them in his fingers. He often sat in his study after the day was done, holding them, examining them closely to make sure they were ligitimate. He collected coins, marvelling over the different designs of monies from all over the world.

This evening, as he contemplated his small collection from the day’s till, Mr. Bank decided it was time for change.

JuJoJan 4 – Fingertips

While downing a burger and fries

What to my wondering eyes

Should appear

Way too near

But a Kentucky fried chicken demise!

Licking fingertips and loud smacking lips

It’s a wonder I could stomach it all

Then followed a belch

He seemed unable to squelch

I’ll never eat again at the mall.

Where’s the Beef?

I admit I’m not brilliant, I’m most easily confused

WordPress is bugging me, starting to feel abused.

The posts from most bloggers are not coming by mail

When they do, to no avail

Are three WP ads written above

And for those ads I have no love.

I try the Reader and even if and when,

Friends I follow have blogs written

They’re old or it’s someone I don’t read

What is up with the Reader feed?

I refollow again, but tell me this

Is it intentional for me to miss

Your stories, poems, and prompts?

Am I being summarily dismissed?

Maybe it’s time to give up the ghost

And avoid this WordPress host.

Brilliant – Word of the Day Challenge

Fish Foil

The beach head was visible, the bank of yard metal gleamed in the moonlight. Only one more risk to take and the bounty would be ours. When the morning fishermen woke from their sleeping haze, all they would find would be leftover scraps.

In stealthy silence, we floated to a dry part of the shoreline where freezers were located, to check their haul. By the time we finished loading, the sky was alight on the horizon and the spine of our boat was curving.

The shore men won’t be singing any sea shanties this day.
