Fandango’s Friday Flashback

Daily Prompt: Shine 1-10-17

Before I put on the first thing I thought of, a very old song, “Shine on Harvest Moon”, I should explain I am a lover of music. It probably started when listening to my dad playing songs by ear on the piano, or playing his fiddle or banjo. There wasn’t much he couldn’t play. We all watched, listened and sang along. I think all of us enjoyed this very much. Music means a lot to me and different songs create different moods. Being a hopeless romantic, I like old and new songs about love the most. Some of the lyrics or the way they are sung, with powerful voices, really “hit home” and can make me cry.  My dad used to play at the local dance hall on some Saturday nights. My mom and I would sit and watch, sometimes dance.

I watched a lot of dance and musical movies also. Pretending to be Ginger Rogers or Cyd Charisse was a favorite pastime. And CC legs! How long were those beautiful legs? I only wished mine would get as long as hers. But no, definitely not. I have a five foot friend and our legs are the same length!

I would wear thick socks and run and leap the length of the kitchen, dining and living room floors. Seemed quite a distance at that age. A child’s imagination can take them anywhere and believe almost anything.

One of my favorite parts in this video is Cyd Charisse slinking in and Fred says”she came at me in sections…more curves than the scenic railway”.

Shine on, winter moon, only a few more months to go.

What day is it anyway?

A better day than yesterday, we can all agree on that! As I’m relaxing after the monumental chore of laundering and remaking my king sized bed, let me just say. . .WHEW, having a snack of grapefruit wedges and contemplating what to choose on my iPad to watch or listen to since my tv bit the dust yesterday, and I started thinking about:

Yup, language. Now living alone I can say anything I want. I often curse out appliances, the s ooter gets the most abuse, and wheelchair and other things. The youngest grandchild I see is 14 and she and the other kids know me a little too well. There may be a few looks, but everyone keeps silent.

The problem is trying the Zoom app. With all far away adults at Christmastime, we decided to try it. My big mouth as one of my older sisters was trying to remember the saying, “happy as pigs in….” so of course I happily finished it, “in shit”, I said. It got looks and then she laughed. She will be 91 in February and still a corker!

So remember, “language!”😎😄

Lynn’s Tuesday Picture Prompt

***

A chilled stroll along the shore to refresh my memories of you. You and I sitting on the rocks, watching the waves shift back and forth. I always thought we should come here at night, to watch the light beam catch something extraordinary leaping from those waves. We never did. Perhaps tonight I will come visit this bank again.

Ooh lala

From my intimate aspect under the covers

A view seen only by lucky lovers

It is truly mesmerizing

Might I add appetizing?

Oh I think I’ve gone astray

Pull up the blanket to save the day!

Jujojan 7 – Caught

Oh, he had been very carefully taught

On what he ought and what he should not

His parents had warned him so many times

It rang in his ears like an hourly chime

It didn’t stop him though, no indeed

He always knew he would succeed

Until that one time he met his match

And spied a woman he wanted to catch

Warnings pushed aside, he invested all

But he was the one who took the fall

He lost his love, his home, even his car

He was too smitten even to spar

The warnings he no longer hears

Just the sadness of his tears.

Chaos

Something just said I hadn’t thought about yet, how after this stops and all these mobsters/strangers went through all the desks, paperwork and offices with backpacks, etc, that no one can enter those buildings without it being security scanned, with dogs, bomb sniffers, etc and even covid redo. T said he didn’t want anyone hurt, sure….😡

What a horrible man we have as president who has taken this country into such a state. I am 74, I have lived through protests – this is not a protest, this is terrorism.

He is responsible. He should be taken out and jailed, today!
