Three Line Tales – “I Just Can’t”

It had been gnawing at him a while. Now days after her operation, still he had not visited her in the hospital. He decided to write a goodbye letter, for he could not say it face to face, especially now.

Sitting in a blank space he tried to think of a way to tell her he simply couldn’t be with her. He thought they’d be together forever, but now had unending doubts. In her condition, this wasn’t his dream of happiness any longer.

Writing three words, unsigned, was his choice. It was his fault and he couldn’t face the guilt.

Where is the backbone of our original government of 1776?

Sammiscribbles Weekend Writing Prompt

Crucible fits this week, considering the events of January 6, 2021 here in the United States of America. I am sure we all agree it was a tragedy and to me the worst was the unnecessary deaths of our citizens. I realize in many places on this planet these are daily occurrences, where life and death is seen or heard or read of almost daily.

Protests and freedom of speech are protected here by our government. What happened on Wednesday wasn’t freedom of expression, it was terrorism, a crucible of hate, racism, idiocy, destruction, and violence.

We’re now woefully shamed.

MLMM Sunday Writing Prompt – 1-10-21

Tying a distinguishing black polka dot bow tie, he thought most people didn’t even know how to tie them anymore. He looked again at his polished wingtips, his expertly pressed trousers and the impeccable white shirt, wrists emblazoned with silver cuff links.

Now this is what women want, he thought. A well dressed man who knows how to take good care of himself which shows I also know how to take care of you. This all aside of course as his subconscious was only hoping to get lucky.
