The surprise of fire suddenly rising in the night sky caused a ferocious outcry from the child. The form of the bright flames border was a frightening spectacle only seen in videos. Effervescent sparks drifted into the finery of summer trees, a poor shower for dry leaves. The devastation was too real for the young mind to comprehend, realizing this was nothing he could turn off by removing a game card.

Rearranging my room to accommodate a small recliner, I found an old photo album with pictures of my grade school days, my beloved teacher, and some old nearly forgotten friends. What a lucky bunch of farm kids we were, and how privileged to have a loving caring teacher in formative days. No matter how old I get or how far away I am from those childhood happenings, there is a constant everlasting tether to my youth, birthplace and childhood memories.
