V for volunteer. Using your time to volunteer is the most rewarding use of your mind and body, and costs you nothing. Of course you can donate money to your favorite cause or charity but getting down in the trenches and actually putting yourself to work to benefit others will surprise you. All volunteer organizations need help in different ways. Look around and find some way of putting yourself in a position to offer help.

Monday Media

Probably like you, I surf the streaming channels looking for anything new to watch. I am gifted these channels by my family and it’s a welcome break from all the mostly horrible news channels available every day. Lately I find I click on something that looks good, but end up deleting it after a few minutes. This week I watched the YouTube reunion of ER and if you were a fan when it was on years ago, you would enjoy this video chat reunion. I must say I loved it and am going to rewatch ER again from the beginning.

Raise your hand in worship of the earth before the beauty is gone, before there is no more growth, and the land is blown away by pollution. Take a stand in your neighborhood, be the dogooder. Be a tree hugger, a volunteer for cleaning parks, or your own street. It only takes one person to influence a generation. Start with yourself and your children.

RIP iPhone 😩😕😭

I suppose it was inevitable. I do not buy anything expensive (except this iPad) because I am clumsy, for one. The gifted used iPhone was fun and I had not fully found out how to use it when last Sunday I dropped it in the washer. It has been sitting in rice since then, turned off and looks okay but doesn’t really work. Sound is screwed so a sympathetic RIP my lovely. Luckily my SIM card was good and could be retrieved to install into my old phone. Now it’s deja vu all over again as I have to adjust to the old phone again. Some days I just wonder when it was my brain took a hike.

Daily Prompt:  Harmony

For Fandango’s Flashback Friday 4-23-2021

rugby843's avatarThe Bag Lady

I’m all for knights in suits of armor

Admiring princesses, expressing ardor

Old time romance as pictured in

The movies with Bogart and Flynn

Who said fervent words, but so tender

It’s a whole new concept with today’s gender

Moon and croon and meet in the garden

Turns into quick texts of words more hardened

It’s less about love and more about sex

No longer asking for a doorstep peck

But a full on romp and not just in the hay

Where is the romance, is there any today?

Is it just “get it on” without delay?

Guess I’m just too old for this day.

Thinking with too much irony

Should just “go along” in harmony.

T for time. I have come to the conclusion that my concept of time is very different than anyone else’s. Something that may seem urgent or timely to me is not necessarily a shared concept by others. I admit I have too much time on my hands, especially in this pandemic. Even before this time of COVID, my time had always been my own since my husband’s untimely death in 2013. From then on it seemed time was flying by. It is only when I am in need of something, and think time is of the essence that life seems too slow. I realize timing is extremely important to others because of busy lifestyles. I need to resign myself that my idea of days is merely hours to most.

FOWC: Monotonous Rant

My complaint here may start to get monotonous, but sadly I seem to have a lot of fodder for these posts. Enjoying coffee with patio windows open to let the sun shine on my daffodil pots, I saw my neighbor across the breezeway–her door is about five feet from mine–walk by with her dog. I’ve always thought she was a nice person but saw her let her dog lift his leg on my patio which is just plain rude. Why not push him ten feet down the walk to your own blanketyblank patio?

People are disgustingly rude these days. When waiting to be picked up and it’s very windy, I try to wheel myself into a breezeway next to the handicapped parking space. This is no longer an option as the stair corners and sides of breezeways are drenched in dog pee. And with a container holding poop bags a few steps down the walk, why can’t people pick up their dog’s poop instead of leaving bits on the sidewalk?

If you have a pet, stop being so lazy–train it, and clean up after it! I do not understand the rudeness and careless attitude of these pet owners. I am in a chair on wheels, and these wheels cannot always avoid your leavings. Have some respect!
