Go Dog Go Cafe – Time

Let’s go with a prompt word of TIME this week.
Whether it is the best of times or the worst of times, it is the only time we have. – Art Buchwald

Here are my thoughts on the prompt: The Last of These Times

Taking time for yourself, is a reasonable request. Too much of it is not the best for relationships. Listening and hearing others around you develops a mutual love and respect.

Ronovan Writes Sijo Wednesday Poetry Challenge #14.

Use REALITY as your inspiration this week.

***

reality never appealed to me, especially spoken

preferring the fantasy of soulmates love, what we thought we shared

true vision is now my choice, a worn out heart surviving

Tuesday Writing Prompt Challenge

***

detached memory from childhood seems to drift by my vision too fleet of foot

I try grabbing it with my mind but it’s too fast, only seen for a second

more and more I fear this happening, and what can I do to stop it…

why can’t I take hold and keep it forever?

Fandango’s Story Starter

This week’s Story Starter teaser is:
TRUTH BE TOLD, MY HEART WASN’T IN IT AND I DECLINED THE OPPORTUNITY UNTIL I FOUND AT THAT…

all the calories in this beautifully crafted decadent chocolate extravaganza cake were nonexistent! How could it be I thought—it looks delicious, and as my mouth started watering; as I thought of how many years I had not indulged in such a treat. The chef/baker guaranteed that it was calorie free and I couldn’t resist. I held out my plate for a slice and just as I touched my fork to the fudgey concoction, I woke up.

Fandango’s Flash Fiction

Finally, she thought, peace and quiet, so I can study. The exam is in two days and my dorm is too noisy to get any reading in. Then Murphy’s Law came calling in the form of a Boy Scout troop and overly friendly leader. “Hey, look who’s here! Hey Julie, mind if we join you for lunch?”

Six Sentence Story

***

“No surprise, he was just an oddball,” was the rumor going around campus. “That’s why he did it, thought he was better than us—he’d never make it in the real world.” This was the decided explanation for why Joe Smith, early childhood diagnosis with a stroke of genius, took a fatal ride into the sea on a bleak Sunday evening. Joe thought he had no choice; he never fit in, no matter how hard he tried; he didn’t make friends and felt uneasy in groups. Joe was different in many ways and no one around him took time to know him or tried to make it easier for him. It was simpler to shun him with ridicule and remain in the popular crowd.

The Sunday Whirl

***

I could never feign the thirst of stories of my past, never be apart from them. You would think I would run out of breath to share them, that first roots would eventually be forgotten or discarded, and roads leading to the future prevail. I could try to deny those thoughts as easily as I could reach into the sky’s chain of stars and pluck one for my own.
