Politicos

Is it just me or is the Speaker of the House taking on a bit more than his position requires? Meeting today in LA with what results? I feel he’s trying to be the “supreme leader” following in Trump’s footsteps. Maybe I missed a political science lesson, but I thought the Secretary of State or the Vice President was in charge of foreign affairs. The Secretary of Defense even, when considering Taiwan. McCarthy is to me, a much too biased politico to take on important duties such as this. His main job should be to oversee and control the House of Representatives, and that’s ominous enough.

D for dragon. Beliefs about dragons vary considerably through regions. Draconic creatures appear in virtually all cultures around the globe and the earliest attested reports of draconic creatures resemble snakes, because humans have an innate fear of snakes and other animals that were major predators of humans’ primate ancestors and often depicted as winged, horned, and capable of breathing fire. Dragons are usually said to reside in “dank caves, deep pools, wild mountain reaches, sea bottoms, haunted forests”—all places which would have been fraught with danger for early human ancestors.

Simply Six Minutes

***

My diet’s working, only berries from now on

It makes me less attractive and safer from the throng.

Always leering, looking, while I’m doing…anything

Those people in the park with their cameras on a string.

I’ve decided with the diet I will seem less visible

Therefore all the visitors will be less quizzable.

I shouldn’t blame them, I guess they are no threat

But we bears like privacy and it’s what we don’t get.

Every time I see one coming I hide behind this tree

Even then they snap and laugh as if they can see me.

Syd

Now that I’ve got you thinking about “lions and tigers and bears, oh my,” I would like to choose one (or more) of the following options to write your poem:
1) Choose any animal and consider its nature and write a poem about the animal;
2) Choose a particular attribute of an animal and write a poem that is about the animal but also an attribute that humans exhibit, similar to some of the above poems;
3) Create your own myth or fable involving animals. There are no form, rhyme, or subject constraints in this prompt challenge. All I ask is that you have fun with it!
Let me introduce you to Miss Sydney, aka Squid, or Syd. She is 112 years old this week, in dog years, and is the sole/soul companion of my eldest granddaughter who is medical residency in Pennsylvania. Syd came to our family via Animal House in Fort Collins, Colorado. She is a sweet old lady and her face and legs are continually turning whiter. She is a Sheba Schipperke mix, great personality. Her only fault is she will consume any food left within reach. But hey, being 112, who can blame her?😊❤️
