***

Hard bristled, stiff
Or soft from a sable marten’s tail
Silky, delicate used to paint
Tiny facial features in a portrait.
Brushes are useful tools, also
Your mind brushes bad memories
Keeping feelings in a weathered bin
Rarely opened, often in a sleepless night.

MLMM Wordle 342

October came into the office like a pack of hungry wolves. Demanding managers were on the prowl with portraits of the month’s expectations. No nostalgic autumn vibes folded with the scent of warmness, a crockpot of cider sitting on the sidebar or even a donut offered. The brunt of the meeting was a call for inventions to solve the puzzle of September’s budget loss. All the usual bright laughter at the first monthly gatherings was gone. The only emotion shown was dire accusations from department heads.

Fall Creativity

“Of course I can construe a proper greeting card! All I need is some paper tissue and a newspaper.

Joe thought a moment knowing this would recur, but wondered about newspaper. His wife created stunning seasonal items with care. Since it was already October he knew her autumn jibe was in full force. He sat back and watched her creativity with bits of the paper.

Here are this week’s questions:
1. When you were a child, did you have your friends round for tea even if it wasn’t your birthday? Were you invited to stay to tea at a friend’s house? No. We never had tea parties either or played with dolls. We mostly were outside.

2. What was your first job in adult life? My first real job started on my 18th birthday as a clerk at the US Army CRREL.

3. Do you enjoy shopping (food, clothes, gifts etc) Not really.

4. What was the best bargain you ever got? Did I ever get a bargain?😄

Gratitude: I am grateful I received a visit from my grandson who has moved away for his new job and I add he’s doing spectacular at his new challenge.

“House Speaker Kevin McCarthy brokewith his party this weekend, working with Democrats to pass a stopgap spending bill to avert a shutdown and keep the government open until Nov. 17. Now, his job is on the line as Florida Republican Rep. Matt Gaetz threatens to introduce a motion to remove him as speaker of the House.” This furthers my belief Florida should just have their own country.

“Democratic Rep. Jamaal Bowman is also under fire following the spending bill vote. Republicans allege he intentionally pulled a fire alarm in the Capitol complex to delay the vote. Bowman says it was a mistake.” Equal opportunity reporting to act like a thirteen year old.

Really folks, THIS is what you voted for?

Six Sentence Story

***

This is sort of a story about “Pump Up the Volume”, a movie made in 1990. It’s about a shy boy portrayed by Christian Slater who has a secret identity. At night he provides provocative commentary on a radio channel that is listened to by fellow students. It’s relevant and comedic and sad all in one. If you’re looking for something new, try this “oldie”. As usual with a prompt I go straight to music or movies.

Money Problems

Mike headed for the balcony of the bank overlooking the protestors. He was trying to over shout the fantasm the bank’s scoundrel of a president created. He stood above the “common” people below. Mike could only hear the broadcast through his headphone’s earpiece. All the promises the bank manager initially made getting the poorer public to put their funds into a secured account at his bank were now only a fantasy. Like so many power full administrators before him, he took advantage of their meager accounts, closing them, holding the money till he could transfer them to his own offshore accounts.
