I was impressed as we explored the Gettysburg battle site of the Civil War. Growing up in VT I learned about the infamous Green Mountain Boys but a road trip from TX to visit my folks in VT as a young mother took us through PA. In the 70s this area was full of bushes and I could see there were quite a few places a soldier could hide. This was the final fate of Lee’s Pickett who marched across an open field to his group’s death. Years ago the monument was in the middle of grasses and bushes but the scene shown here is quite serene and different. All in all back then, I was intrigued by how small the entire famous battle area was. Quite sad even today as I see the photos and that in two days time (July 1-3, 1863)
more than 35,000 people were killed.

There had been no slack of grief, no veiled sighs, just an oppressive bare emotion and after months, she was still held hostage by it. Any pockets of happiness, sympathetic words wrapped in hugs only quelled the sorrow for a short time. She’d been there before and at that happening, it was long expected. Each gathering now tried to reach the blissful heights of months before, but seemed unattainable.

Archie leaped into the air and grabbed at it with fervor…his first ever red balloon! His mom had read him the story many times but she also thought they were dangerous at his young age. Finally at the age of five, he was at the fair and there stood a man selling many, many colors of balloons! His dad paid the man and bought a bright red one for Archie.

He was nearly destitute. He decided after the buttocks incident and rush to the hospital, he had better prevent any future family disputes by making a will. The hospital usually insists on a DNR when a person is of a certain age, and he was reluctant, but relented. Trying to mention each extremely small bequeath with love and sincerity, he gave the forms to his lawyer for safe keeping. Now he only hoped not to get sick again soon.😳

Joe Went Camping

“It sure is a long way out there! How many miles do you think it is to that island?”

“Who cares? We need to get out of here before anyone sees us!”

“It sure is a long way out there. . .” Bob put his hand up to his brow, looking out on the water. “It sure . . .”

“You said that already. Now get in the car!” 

Jack hurried down to get Bob and pull him into the car. Ever since they dumped Joe’s body, Bob acted strangely. “Hurry up, Bob, there you go, into the car.” As he shoved his accomplice into the seat, he also attached his seatbelt. He didn’t want him falling out. Just in case, he might put the child lock on. All this over a stupid poker game. Who knew Joe carried a gun to the games, and why? He stepped on the gas and sped out of the sand. Broad daylight and we’re out here trying to sink a body! Of course I never liked Joe anyway, he was a mean sort.

“Remember that time Joe brought his wife in the bar sporting that shiner? And that wasn’t the first time! Everyone knew then what kind of man he was.” Jack kept talking, keeping one eye on the road and one on Bob.

Bob sat by his friend in the car. I’ve got my seatbelt on, we’re driving home. That’s good. I wonder what happened to Joe. I think he came to the beach with us, I think. Did we go swimming? Funny I can’t remember something like that.

“Jack, did we go swimming?” Jack was beside himself. Not only had Bob saved him from getting shot, but he killed Joe. Now he’s in La La land. It wasn’t his fault, they struggled and Joe ended up dead. The problem was that the guys thought his wife would be blamed, so they stuffed the body in the trunk. It was lucky the trunk had camping supplies. Joe went camping, sleeping bag, tent, ropes and all, right in the water.

Prime rib, prime real estate, prime on tv, all are in the “top ten”. That’s what they want you to believe and I’m fully aware I use “they” as a general term in my posts, usually in a degrading manner. And what is the prime reason I do so? To keep from being sued!😂. Nah, one look at me and you know I’m not in the money.

It’s turning cooler and there’s a freeze warning for us which means Saturday morning band practice participants will be glad of those heavy wool uniforms and gloves. State championship is next week so everyone is on their cadenced toes.
