PROMPT WORD: KICK

***

This will really show my age.

But I do not qualify as any sage.

Music plays constantly in my mind’s stage.

Most prompts do I engage

in musical references that assuage.

Today the prompt brings me to Sinatra

With “I get a kick out of you” mantra.

***

“I Get a Kick Out of You” is a song by Cole Porter, which was first sung in the 1934 Broadway musical Anything Goes, and then in the 1936 film version. Originally sung by Ethel Merman, it has been covered by dozens of prominent performers.”

Sunday’s Six Sentence Story Word Prompt!

SYW 1-15-24

Here are this week’s questions:
1. Do you use an air freshener in your home? If so, do you prefer a solid gel, spray, timed release, pot pourri or something else? I use bath and body plug ins and my current favorite is “coffee and whiskey”.

2. When good weather permits, do you open your windows to let in the fresh air? My windows don’t open and no screen door on my outside door, so no.

3. With the extreme variants in weather these days, do you feel the cold in the Winter months? Not unless I go out because my small apartment stays warm.

4. Which would you prefer………..
to curl up in front of a log fire or log burner, turn the heating up, or go to bed early with extra blankets. Always a real fire but now I have an electric fake one that provides plenty of heat.

Gratitude: I am certainly grateful I have a warm home to live in.

Well it’s official, we had a heat wave- NOT!

I guess a perfect time to stay home and do a craft of some kind. I wonder if listening to an audible book qualifies as crafty!

Oppenheimer

If you haven’t seen it yet, spend $6.00 on Amazon Prime- it’s definitely a must see!

“During World War II, Lt. Gen. Leslie Groves Jr. appoints physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer to work on the top-secret Manhattan Project. Oppenheimer and a team of scientists spend years developing and designing the atomic bomb. Their work comes to fruition on July 16, 1945, as they witness the world’s first nuclear explosion, forever changing the course of history.”

Writing seems like it should be easy and sometimes it is. It’s especially easy to write about something you love or hate, and let’s face it, I do brag about my kids and grandkids and love them so much it should be banned! I am such a lucky person but I still find things to complain about, i.e., upstairs neighbor who has jumping stomping, running relatives/kids stay with him on the weekends. Last night they were active till 1:23 and then again this morning at 5. The good news today is that it is bright and sunny, cold and quite a bit of snow on the ground, so beautiful. If I could, I’d be out there making snow angels. I just need a strong person to lift me back up!😂.

Daily Prompt – JusJoJan the 14th, 2024

The Sunday Whirl

Beads of sweat formed a ribbon chain under the veil. The mantra repeated in her head but she wanted to switch it the sound of bird song. There was a beauty to these grounds, and even flowers. She tried to draw her attention to the brightly colored bird wings that were illuminated by a shaft of sunlight. Concentration was key to her survival and she walked slowly approaching him. What would happen when she removed her veil was dependent on how the man with the scar reacted. Acceptance or revulsion was only his choice.

Sammiscribbles Weekend Writing Prompt

Eighty-seven words on “appointment” seems a bit long, unless of course you are listening to a person of a certain age…That age being dependent on the person’s health and well being. I wonder why those two things are usually phrased together because in reality, they don’t always equate. A person in very poor health may still have a great positive attitude/well being. Back to most appointments, as a person ages, they usually involve a doctor of some sort, or a tax/estate attorney or lastly, a funeral director.

**I tried to find a short of Chopin’s funeral March but no luck🙄
