An unrequited affection

It’s a common theme

Especially if you dream

Outcome’s not perfection

It’s a predeliction

Wishing it might be as it seems

Continue to think love will beam

Choose not, take a new direction.

A dreamer’s imagination

Can be a friend or foe

An impossible situation

When it comes to love

With expectations high or low

Change your views thereof.

W3 Prompt #109: Wea’ve Written Weekly

Simply Six Minutes

***

Urban crisis abated

New dwellings debated

Destruction now evaded

Appearance overrated

Composed of natural components

Construction only took moments

A crane, a tractor, that was it

Everyone decided it was fit

For keeping all intruders at bay

Even nuclear if it comes this way

The only problem I can envision

Is how do I get in and out? Such decisions!

For a summer treat, can’t be beat
It’s lemon tart and meringue sweet
A tastier food you’ll not meet
Now I need a piece of pie!

WordPress – Why can’t you leave well enough alone?

Below is an example of the frustration writing a post here. This lovely symbol pops up, the screen divides and if you want to make a change, the keyboard pops up over the post so you can’t see what you’re writing. If you click on the mini keyboard to put it on the bottom, the whole screen goes wonky! 😳🤯😵‍💫😖

Fandango’s Story Starter

Only this morning, the alarm went off at one instead of one in the afternoon. He was going to start a new job working nights, and this was his first day. Exhausted, turned on the tv. His studio apartment was small enough so he could lay in bed and watch tv at the same time, and hoped it was mind numbing enough to get back to sleep. Of course he forgot to reset the alarm and continued sleeping till five in the evening. When he woke up, he glanced at the clock and just felt it was a sign. Another sign, another failure, another job lost. Walter just curled up under the bed covers and a tear fell on his pillow.

Wildland Firefighters

As wildfires burn in Canada and Mexico, U.S. fire officials are concerned about the upcoming wildfire season.

Upwards of a quarter of the government’s wildland firefighting jobs are vacant. Pay is low — especially for rookies — and the risks are high.

Forests are overgrown, and rising heat and drought add to the dangers. Many who take the firefighting jobs can’t afford to live in the places they’re working.

The labor shortage isn’t new, especially since the pandemic, NPR’s Kirk Siegler says. The federal government will likely continue using private contractors or borrowing crews from Mexico and Canada — strategies Siegler says are “not ideal.”
