Sammiscribbles Weekend Writing Prompt #133

Longevity-not all it’s cracked up to be. If I were an elephant I would learn to accept it, but hiding out from poachers doesn’t seem a very nice life. I like my big floppy ears, they come in handy to ward off insects, and of course my tusks are useful and quite handsome. My bulk and strength comes in handy for work, in case trampling the ground gets boring and I need sustenance. C’est la vie!

SoCS 11-23-19

Good morning! It’s my grandson’s 20th birthday today and were having a small party, so be of good cheer! I took him out yesterday for his last teenage cheeseburger–his favorite nourishment.😀. So for this week’s Prompt, we open the latest flyer/ad in the mail, etc. and I opened this:

I love the plugins and candles they have there and Tis the Season is a favorite. I find the candles burn down evenly, not only in the middle, and leave all the wax on the sides like some others. In fact I just replaced a plugin yesterday with the Tis the Season scent. It’s a spirit builder for sure. I hope you have a lovely weekend and enjoy yourselves.

Three Line Tales #199

Bertha the cow from across the fence: “Well would you look at that? How did he get in there?”

Her friend Rhonda, the chicken, replied: “Well you know, Farmer Brown was so upset at Mrs. Brown, he yelled out, when pigs fly! Then it was like a miracle, all those porkers just sprouted wings and took off. The only one that didn’t leave was Georgie Porgie. You know he just flew over the fence and into the pool. He was always a little odd, hated mud baths. I guess he prefers chlorinated water instead!”

The rest of the farm animals just went back to grazing while Georgie thought he was in pig heaven.

#writephoto – The Wishing Tree

After trudging through muddy snow, the cold permeating their winter coats, they finally found it. This was the answer to their prayers, a completion of a promise and a quest all in one.

The three children just fell to their knees with exhaustion. It had been a long journey for such small legs, but they all felt relief and expectation. The book was correct, here was living proof. They followed the map in the story and found the tree of light.

It was a simple matter now. As soon as they rested a bit they stood in a half circle by the tree. They all had their own secret wishes, hoping the tree’s light would grant them all, but had decided earlier if only one wish was granted, they would all be satisfied. They held hands, closed their eyes, and concentrated on their wish.

Suddenly they felt the light’s warmth surround them. Each one was transported to their desired dream. As they left, the trees light faded and remained so until another needy child’s wish would be fulfilled.

MLMM First Line Friday

Eden saw doubt in their trembling smiles, they never expected her to recover.  Of course unbeknownst to them, that was the plan all along. The medicine withheld from her causing what Jack hoped was a fatal attack, and yet here she was, laying there, still breathing. The rest of the family might miss her, but not him.

Foiled again, Jack thought. What does it take for this old lady to bite the bullet and go on that long deep dark trip to join the devil? She deserved it, everyone knew it, especially Jack.

He was getting more frustrated as she clung to life over and over again. There was the car “accident” breaking her legs, the healed broken neck from slipping on an icy sidewalk and the rabid dog bite set up by a friend of his. Who knew they now have meds for that? Jack was stifled at every turn. This last attempt, hiding her medicine and scaring her to death, (he should be so lucky), even failed because here she was, still.

Jack left the hospital room, shaking his head. Maybe he’ll have to forget about his inheritance and get a job after all.

Terrible Poetry Contest Anniversary

First, Congratulations on a year of Terrible Poetry🥴😄! Both of my efforts are indeed terrible!

***

There once was a pregnant lady

Not happy to birth more babies

A control split the seam

Now she’s just acting mean

Too bad for the coming baby.

🤱🏼🤱🏼🤱🏼

No more children said to her hubby

He insists on getting more huggy

So now she is groaning

With birth pain she’s moaning

And here comes a baby so chubby.
