After trudging through muddy snow, the cold permeating their winter coats, they finally found it. This was the answer to their prayers, a completion of a promise and a quest all in one.
The three children just fell to their knees with exhaustion. It had been a long journey for such small legs, but they all felt relief and expectation. The book was correct, here was living proof. They followed the map in the story and found the tree of light.
It was a simple matter now. As soon as they rested a bit they stood in a half circle by the tree. They all had their own secret wishes, hoping the tree’s light would grant them all, but had decided earlier if only one wish was granted, they would all be satisfied. They held hands, closed their eyes, and concentrated on their wish.
Suddenly they felt the light’s warmth surround them. Each one was transported to their desired dream. As they left, the trees light faded and remained so until another needy child’s wish would be fulfilled.
