Power Outage Sunday

Electricity out until three-thirty this afternoon, now WiFi struggling to get itself in order, so I really am stuck. Luckily I have three books to read. But having everything electric in my apartment is really not great. When I had a gas stove, I had no problem cooking or keeping warm from the oven. Now it’s much different. My biggest worry was how long my freezer would maintain a good temperature since of course I just stocked it this week and it’s pretty full. How spoiled am I?

If I was in the mountains I would have an icy stream to keep things cool, a fireplace to keep warm, and a beautiful view to look at or play in, but of course that is only a dream. (Sigh)

Monday at noon, WiFi restored. Century Link said an ice storm blew it out. Uh, huh, it’s fifty degrees 🙄. What blows it out is the cheap bad wiring in this building.

Im sorry if it takes me a while to read and respond to your writings.🥰

Sammiscribbles Weekend Writing Prompt 3-14-20

It’s a privilege to get a good night’s sleep, as the older I get, especially the less active I am. Dreams are another thing, nightmares the worst when you wake up suddenly and hope it is not actually happening.

Taking our three children camping, close quarters in a tent or camper meant a parent’s sleepless adventure. It was amazing to hear my fully asleep children converse as if they were awake, while staying safely in their sleeping bags.

3TC – Natural Beauty

With a quick brush of her unruly hair, Stella was ready for the trip to the cabin. She was to meet her new boyfriend for a weekend getaway. It was her quest to not look the perfect corporate lawyer he thought he knew. She wanted to appear shy and vulnerable.

SoCS 3-14-20

This is a significant week for me, for in 1966, ancient memories of a young woman and a GI going to the PX to buy an engagement ring. I was shy and picked out a simple white gold with small diamond. I’m still not a fan of big jewelry or clustered diamonds. My choice was a plain gold band, but my fiancé wanted to buy a diamond ring for me. Since we were going to be separated after that week for four months, it was nice to look at it and dream. I’m still wearing the plain gold band but the diamond ring is long gone. I have never taken the band off and don’t think I could, emotionally.

I know the Prompt is wire and my thoughts have been on the above event as they are every year during this week, but for the prompt I would offer how wired people seem to be in the stores these days. Dangerous already and I’m glad I’m not going out in it. It is scary thinking about living here with the open carry law, and seems everyone feels free to display weapons everywhere, that these wired people may get carried away. At least we do not have crowded cities here. Stay healthy and safe and definitely keep your sense of humor.

50 Word Thursday

Keep up, Henry! We don’t want to be the last ones getting in! It’s hot and will be crowded. I want a seat upfront near the fans!

Poor old Henry absolutely hated these excursions with Martha. Who wants to see another home full of antiques owned by a supercilious author!
