Tragedy

Words failed me as I stared at the body. It was my usual Sunday trip up to Yukon trail. I had changed the date to Monday since Christmas vacation allowed me to take my kids. Because of social distancing, the week day seemed a good choice.

It was so cold it seemed the still body was just laying there, resting, instead of instantly being afraid of her. I hustled the kids to sit away, next to a tree. I was tempted to say everything would be all right, but I’m sure they would know better.

It was late afternoon before we heard the FBI helicopter fly in to do a forensics search. The kids and I will forever remember that Christmas tragedy.

Sammiscribbles Weekend Writing Prompt 12-26-20

The decision was definitely abrupt. Jack was one of those happy go lucky people living in a self imposed fantasy world. Everyone around him was amazed at how he reacted to bizarre problems, as if it was just another bridge to cross. Then it happened.

His troglodyte employer was tired of Jack’s Pollyanna attitude, wanted Jack to be more studious, instead of emphasizing his creative ideas. Jack’s project expense budget disappeared, his efforts chastised and the pressure was on to resign.

The happiness balloon deflated. Jack couldn’t substitute his personality and quit, the company’s loss.

SoCS 12-26-20

What a day! We spent gift opening on Zoom and it wasn’t ideal, but okay. Presents and plate of food, cookies all brought to me, how nice is that? The book my granddaughter gave me I started reading at 10pm. Couldn’t put down and finished at 2am. 😂 I haven’t done that in a while, felt good!

A big box of thank you wishes to all of you for reading and commenting on my scribbles.
