MLMM Wordle #229

The sunny breach of the grey fog’s grip made walking down the street a stellar experience. I had my favorite cup of Starbucks in one hand and my jacket in the other. I just smiled thinking it was going to be a great day after all, when round the corner a teenager in a bright red dress came running.

She seemed to be fleeing from someone or some thing and bumped straight into me. My coffee, cel phone and her armful of books all went catawampus and we were lucky to only lose our footing.

Apparently a plaintiff of the nearby bookstore thought she had stolen something and was following close behind her waving his fist and making guttural animal noises. As I attempted to help her up, he came at her, grabbing the books that had fallen on the street. He angrily looked them over and not discovering anything that belonged to him, backed up. He sheepishly apologized and went back to his store.

I then started picking up my own things and saw a small book I didn’t recognize. The book had a new price tag attached and was temporarily hidden under my fallen jacket. Immediately I knew this was the book the store owner was looking for and handed it to the girl. She added it to her armful of books and took off running again.

My coffee was spilled, my jacket was stained and the sun went back into the clouds.

Monday Media

You know I love Outlander, books and series, and this is a delightful humorous look at two of the characters in real life: “Men in Kilts” . A great break from serious drama and I’m sure you will get a laugh or two watching it. Seeing beautiful Scotland is rewarding. So far there are three episodes of the series available on STARZ.

Three Dog Night

It sure is and since I have no dogs at this time I have to use three blankets! And then this from 1971, the year we moved from TX to CO and my daughter was born.

When I heard the lyric “well I’ve never been to heaven” I knew the melody but months ago when these words and tune was in my head, I could not remember the song and all searching for lyrics etc turned up nothing. So when I heard this song tonight I said “Eureka – finally!”πŸ˜… Videos have come a long wayπŸ˜€

Carrot Ranch Flash Fiction – Frozen

Frozen food, the worst of online grocery shopping experiences, with my often hitting the wrong letter when trying to order something and end up with frozen entrails instead of frozen entrees. All this online shopping is not user friendly to people in frozen climates where a computer, tablet or horrid phone keyboard requires warm usable non arthritic fingers. I suppose at my age I should just get one of those huge keyboard senior phones, but I digress. It is up to the actual shopper, (egads) to check freshness dates, that it’s not squashed, partially opened or unappetizing looking.

Sammiscribbles Weekend Writing Prompt 2-27-21

He was going to be Joe college all the way, as he stepped onto the campus of Bonkers University in the republic of Texas. According to their brochure everything that ever was made, designed, or created came from Texas. Joe wanted in on that history and hoped to learn all from attending this college. His first stop was the student union to buy some BU kitsch and logo tshirt.

MLMM Saturday Mix – Chocolate

***

Once was a clown who’s name was Poppit

Kept children all happy with chocolate

His mistake on the day

Was too hot, he dismayed

The treats all melted in his pocket.

I’ve always thought limericks were 88558, so found it odd to do this.

Bored Ramble

Waking from a long slumber, found 25F degrees, snowing, furnace roaring, coffee being sipped and thinking of what I can make for a meal with chicken breast or put something in my grocery order that will microwave quickly.

My meager appetite doesn’t require much because of lack of exercise, and I only require a late afternoon meal. Or I might just use my grub hub free coupon to order Mexican food but the restaurant I like does not deliver, so probably not. They say free delivery but the driver should receive a lagniappe for his efforts of course.

I have declared a moratorium on baking cookies, cakes, etc because it’s only me here and it is too handy. I crave things but am never really hungry. The lockdown and winter weather has already prevented most exercise so it’s a must, otherwise I could be rolled out the door without the wheelchair.

It’s time to put in the grocery order hoping I get decent potatoes this time instead of the monstrous sweets in last order. The things I can always count on are apples, grapes, tomatoes and cabbage. Other fresh produce is hit and miss. It all depends on the shopperπŸ™„.

MLMM First Line Friday 2-26-21

The rose bushes lay a siege with velveteen petals and curved thorns. This is how he thought of her, sweet fragrance beguiling, inviting with her incomparable beauty, soft skin and curving lips. His heart was instantly attracted, but his mind knew the truth.
