MLMM Wordle #275

The playboy had reached a stalemate with his new choice. It seemed she enjoyed the Valentine’s Day roses, the slender nylon stockings trimmed in black lace, and even smiled at the helium balloons he added for a laugh. He fumbled the play he thought, taking her wrists in his hands. He thought this holiday display would cinch the deal but he was mistaken. The woebegone woman couldn’t let the thorns of her past trials let him in. He had tried and failed, not his usual experience. He left, slightly daunted, but wait, is that a curvy natural blonde down the street?

“My Funny Valentine” – Ella Fitzgerald 1958

I used to go around singing this-for some reason it made an impact on me in my youth.

No Valentine

Not a practioner of love
But ardor near and from the trove
The slender weaver chokes the rose
No attitude of cherish
It only seeks to bear its will
No share or shy humility
This invasive vested tendril.

What Day is it Anyway 🐻
Monday of course! I have decided this new place I’m living in is a “story a day” complex.
Last night I decided I have a bear living above me. I am on the first floor of a three story building. I have to say it’s well insulated as far as sound goes. The only time I hear a human is if I’m in the bathroom which borders the hallway. And don’t think about that too much either.
When I first moved in there was a lot of moving furniture scraping noises from above. No problem, I understand trying to get everything situated for yourself. Then in the middle of my second night I heard a huge bonk from above my bedroom. It sounded like a body fell. I listened wondering if I should call for help, but hearing no help or screams, I tried to get back to sleep.
Since then I hear no voices but a lot of drops, bonks and plodding heavy elongated steps above, as if you are trying to measure out yards with your feet. So I’ve decided, I have a bear living upstairs.

What Day is it Anyway?😂
As you know by now I am in a newly constructed apartment complex. My own apartment is ADA outfitted with wonderful appliances but there is a problem. The dumpster for trash is huge and no access by wheelchair available. It’s a problem to keep trash in my apartment since I have no garbage disposal and lots of veggie trash-don’t think about it too much.😳🙄
The management knows this but it’s been six weeks and no remedy. My son in law who had me laughing so much said “put it out on the patio”. I replied “It’s against the rules.”
“What will they do” he asked. “Someone will take it. If the mgr complains tell them you have no choice.” Then he went on pretending to be me saying “well I could talk to the ADA and say there’s a problem…..or better yet I’ll have my lawyer do it…….” By this time I was laughing so hard I was tearful! I dearly love him and so blessed to have him.
I bought some large 3mil thick bags and yesterday I put one out full of trash on the patio. This morning it was gone. Like Loki told Thor – “I sent it off I know not where”😀

The Sunday Whirl

The stone clock’s tick matched my heartbeat as I began to dress for our “date”. The day almost finished and sunset was starting to darken the sky. The lacy strings of my dress were an invitation, yes, but there was a limit to my adventure.
Hoping my prey was going to spill a confession, I put my police badge in a secret drawer. All trails had led to this perpetrator and I hoped I could close the gate on his crimes tonight. “Joe, can you hear me? You’ll be ready to move in, right? I don’t plan on ending up like those other women”, she said, fingering her gun.

Love ‘em and Leave ‘em

Sue would boast about using her feminine wiles. It was almost poignant the way she would thread her way into a man’s most vulnerable part of his heart. There was no reprieve for her victims. And when she was done, she cast them aside with a toast of champagne.
