ROE V WADE

From NPR: ā€œThe Pentagon will pay for service members to travel to get abortion care. Since the fall of Roe v. Wade, all or most abortions have become illegal in 13 states, and several of the military’s largest U.S. bases are located in states where abortion is now banned.ā€

Don’t get me wrong. I think anyone should be able to have the right to choose what they want to do with their body, including abortion. It saves lives, and if you want to see why I think this way, visit social services or see how many unwanted children there are housed in facilities. Unwanted babies grow into children that need homes.

My point is exactly how is the pentagon able to help when even our joke of a Supreme Court won’t? And it’s travel, not the procedure they will pay for. Think about this when you vote!

Fandango’s Flashback Friday

ā€œOne potato, two potato, three potato, fourā€¦ā€

I don’t want to play!

I know you’re scared, we all are, but you lost!

Everyone says it’s haunted!

Well, that’s why we’re here, it’s Halloween!

But, but. . .but, I’m the smallest one here, and if there really is a monster in there, I will be easy prey! Why not send Biggie Roberts? He’s a bully anyway, who cares if the monster gets him? Sam starts to cry.

That’s why they call you Snivelly Sam. You’re always blubbering about something. You lost the count. Now go in!

Sam hesitates and then pulls himself up to his tallest three foot five and wipes his eyes and nose on his sleeve. Okay, he thought, I’ll show them! He put one hand in his pocket to hold onto the lucky penny his grandad gave him and squeezed it as he opened the creaky door and stepped inside. The door shut behind him.

It’s been fifteen minutes, did you guys hear anything? I didn’t either. Think we should go in after him?

After another five minutes, Sam came outside with a big smile on his face, and the boys outside were shocked.

What happened? What was inside, was it scary? Why are you smiling?

Sam just kept on walking home. The rest of the boys just looked at each other in amazement, following along behind with their questions. Sam walked into his house and left them outside. His mom said, hello honey, did you have fun today? Sam smiled and told her about the friendly old grandma in the haunted house who fed him cider and donuts as a Halloween treat.

Drink

Warm, red, thicker than wine
my favorite drink so sublime
I need to have it fresh and sweet
they always surrender, accept defeat
my charms entice my victims well
only afterwards, when it’s too late to tell
their trip of a lifetime is seen
as their blood on my lips causes a sheen

Am I dreaming? I hear it constantly. Why doesn’t the phone ring stop? I’ve pressed all the buttons. I have even turned the phone to ā€œoffā€, but I still hear a ring. I must be dreaming; asleep finally, after so many nights trying. The body can only stay awake so long, right?

I walk into my bedroom, see the bed ahead of me, those soft warm blankets calling me. I crawl in, put the pillow over my head and it has stopped.

Three o’clock in the morning, I hear a ring again. Am I dreaming?

Aha, thinking you might enter without our permission? I think not, my friend. Even though we sit on high, we see, hear, and recognize everything. Now step inside if you choose, but make sure to keep your secret hairy self out of sight. Our policy is all creatures are allowed, but must remain in human form while inside the building.

What Day is it Anyway?

It’s a day to start thinking about going off a cholesterol medicine I started taking. I haven’t been on medications for almost 10 years and starting this one has been a pain in the butt, literally. I can’t sleep, can’t think, I can’t remember things and it feels like my mind’s in a fog. The only thing different I have done during this period of weeks is take this medicine.

So is it worth it? I don’t think so. I haven’t been able to sleep for weeks because I can’t get comfortable enough at night to sleep. My mind is fuzzy trying to remember things, my digestive system is in an uproar of rebellion no matter what I eat and frankly I am tired of it. So what day is it anyway? Am I the only one…again? Have you ever been on this type of med and how did you react? Was it worth it?
