After being under the weather for various reasons, I said “phhhttt“ with this sick tiredness and our family got together yesterday for a meal and presents. One of my granddaughters did a survey ahead of time and then made a power point😂 presentation of the results. It was a question quiz on members of the family, such as: who would you ask to help bury a body, and who would you ask for help if you needed a $100? It was hilarious. She’s also the one who organizes the book exchange every Christmas. I am so blessed to have such talented, creative and loving people to surround me. Btw, I was disappointed that I didn’t get the “help with the body” prize😂! My oldest grandson and family are moving into a new home today so the action never stops here☺️. Here’s hoping you all are looking forward to a better new year!

Fandango’s Flashback Friday

When I look around at life

My lack of trouble also strife

I have reason to believe

It’s not hard to achieve

A feeling, not a platitude,

But just plain honest gratitude.

We all have something to be grateful for

Some have less, some have more

As for myself, I have plenty

And reasons I could write of many

Here for you, to contest

But first, let me stress

It’s not mine you need address

But your own you should express.

Let people know how much they matter

Write it down, send a letter

Handwritten, envelope and stamp

For them to hold, know they’re a champ.

We all have time to just write thanks

And let them know just why they rank

At the top of your thank you list

Don’t forget and let it go missed.

Sue became what she dreaded, a cruel excuse for the split personality she usually kept hidden. This year seemed different, she had befallen into constant judgment of herself. Not anyone close, but one look in the mirror, became extra morose. She couldn’t keep the truth from coming out when she was alone. She tried to grow out of of it but even in her twenties, it was too hard to pretend. Maybe this would be the time to see a professional.

Here are this week’s questions:
1. Do you enjoy or get frustrated with the run up to the festive holidays? This year I’m just grateful to be alive.

2. Do you like family gatherings on a regular basis? Definitely.

3. What is your favourite family memory?
Too many to say!

4. Do you prefer to be a host or visitor for a special occasions? Years ago the host, now an observer😄

Gratitude : I’m happy that we are starting to get well after a month of yucky feelings. We are tired and no appetite but hope to see each other before the year runs out. Also I am grateful for all messages received of kindness and good will. Thanks to all!

Wishing you a fine new year!

The Sunday Whirl

***

At midnight, a chill in my feverish night as a dream wavers on the edges of slumber, and the sight of you blurs. You are not there, but as the chain of love might stray, it never breaks. I rise to the window seeing the joyous drops of white as the snow begins. I might even hear a soft twinkle of bells in the distance initiating the beginning of a new year, always commencing this way. The vision then dissipates and the bells chime louder.

Sammiscribbles Weekend Writing Prompt

A window, possibly a mirror? I think often the US Supreme Court must be looking into windows of war and instigating conflict, reflecting no actual justice. It’s obvious it is not a court of unbiased judges, but acting on some personal agenda that has nothing to do with maintaining its citizens in a peaceful nation. The highest court in the USA should be an honorable, respected position and ruling for the benefit of every American. Sadly, this SCOTUS is not.
