SoCS May 18, 2024

I admit I’m the one in my family who asks this because most everyone else has allergies 😵‍💫. Things are looking scary for Monday as I have an appointment with the orthopedic doctor, the one I can’t stand—-no pun intended. Then it will be outpatient PT to start putting weight on my left leg. It will be nine weeks Monday since I broke it. Needless to say I’m paranoid now about moving from the WC to any other sitting place. Wish me luck!

dVerse Poets – Magic 9

Spring has sprung so they say
Trees are green and budding out
Fast moving through the month of May
Daffodils’ blooms seen everywhere
Sunshine warming up gardens this day
Sounds of mowing grass starting their song
Purple hibiscus and crocus on the way
This is what spring is all about
Soon roses will compete in display

The Unicorn Challenge

No pets allowed, not even a bird

That’s what it says in those words

No more being chased by a dog

No more stepping on smelly logs

I know it’s crass, but til it happens to you

I think you wouldn’t like it, too.

Of course there are gulls who can be nasty

Might get too close, you need rhinoplasty

But think of it this way, I might sound moany

Beaches are for people, happy or lonely

There should be dog beaches but for pets only.

Fandango’s Flashback Friday

2017:

Ode to Danny @ dreambigdreamoften.co

He asks the questions

As he always does

Usually difficult

Starting a buzz

You know Danny

Now he’s on vacation

But still asking questions

With no cessation

Before you answer

He makes you think.

Bloggers like this

Use lots of ink

I often answer

Always too quick

May not have mercy

With a comic shtick

Some questions are tricky

And hard to answer

Sometimes you need

To be a line dancer

Stepping either way too far

Your reputation might even be marred

Thanks, Danny for making us take time

Most answers I read are quite sublime.

Fandango’s Flashback Friday — May 17th

No Theme Thursday

Stripped of it all

His mind askew

How sad it is now

Could we start anew?

The earth is done

The galaxy calls

Earth has failed

How the people did fall

He wished a solution

Could we fix it then

Return to a time when it began

The ruin of the planet

Might we start again?

Did we learn a lesson or will we ignore

The cry of nature at earth’s core.

The Writer’s Workshop

I choose number six:

My friend and I had just picked up a helium tank for balloons and it was in the back of my station wagon. It was for a carnival for MDA. Also, in the back were bags of empty pop cans we were going to use in a game. Naturally, I had to go really slow to keep from getting all the cans squashed by the moving tank. We were in downtown Denver, and we came upon a school zone and even if the light is not flashing in Denver. you are to go 20 miles an hour and of course we knew that. We were watching the speed on my car to make sure that we were not going above 20 miles an hour. I saw a police car over to the left parked and I glanced down to make sure I was still under 20 mph and I was. The minute I passed him, he threw on a siren and light and pulled us over. Needless to say he had a very bad attitude—he would not believe my story about the tank and the cans and then he showed me his speed gun and said I was going 40 mph. That was a lie. It was disgusting and I ended up going to court to fight that. I won.
