Candy bar, titanic, friend
〰〰〰
Seriously, are you going to eat that?
Why not?
Well I’m only telling you this as a friend. . .
Telling me what?
If you eat that, you’ll sink your diet like the Titanic, or ending up looking like it.
You know, friend, you have no tact whatsoever.
I’m only telling you for your own good.
Uh huh, sure.

Particularly appropriate – try saying that three times fast – since I went wc shopping today. I think I’ll go online and see what’s available before I ask my doctor for the prescription I need to get one. I would think the obvious, “I can’t walk” would be sufficient, just as my current GP says, but maybe that’s not PC these days. I’m a no fancy words, say what I think person and think that simple statement should be enough. It reminds me of an appointment I had with a neurologist who insisted I walk without my cane years ago, down a hallway. I told him I would fall because my legs don’t hold me up. He made me do it anyway and of course I went two steps and fell. Doctors…..my history has not been what I would call. . .swell.
These experiences lead you to fight until you’re exhausted or to settle for what you can get. Someone last week told me, you need to fight this, and I replied, I’ve fought for years, I’m just tired of it now. Most fights were for good causes, such as better pay for teachers, better school conditions and provisions for students, etc. Now I’m just tired.

The jokester over at afterwards.blog’s Prompt today is Wednesday😂 So going along with the fact it is still Wednesday here in WY, I’ll just blather on about my day. A few prompts appear here on WP on Wednesday: One Liner Wednesday, Write Anything Wednesday, Feline Wednesday, Fandango’s Provocative Question, Wednesday Word Prompt, Writing Wednesday, Word Prompt Wednesday, Wednesday Writing Prompts, 100 Word Wednesday, Crimson’s Creative Challenge, just to name a few to choose from.
I particularly like Write Anything Wednesday because like the title, it’s freeform blather. Of course that’s my usual, so not a surprise. Today I visited the only shop in town to check out a new wheelchair since mine is increasingly harder to use and needs repairs. A very nervous, unknowledgeable person was the only one present and had no answers to my questions. Besides not knowing what a paraplegic or quadriplegic meant, I was not angry, just embarrassed for her. We left with no info, no help except the statement, you pay upfront and need a prescription before we even discuss it. Paying upfront is ridiculous! Who can afford it? So who is handy with tools?🙄😳😏

His piercing eyes the shade of charcoal against such pale, almost translucent skin. I thought I was lucid–now I know differently. If I wake, will I then see the bloodlust in them, or has my fate been sealed from a wanton night of passion?

Grandma’s been staring through the window ever since it started to snow. If it gets any worse I’ll have to let her in.

The Prompt is self. What about yourself ? After reading the answers to Rory’s questions about “well I have never, or have I”, the self is out! These question posts and their answers seem to bring out the devil in some bloggers. Of course I’m kidding…or am I? 😂Opening up to your readership is a good thing. We all get to know each other a little better. I try to be honest in my answers, no matter how embarrassing. The real embarrassment is the typos!😳🙄

Every day a new opportunity
It may be sunny and bright
Or cloudy and cold
But it’s a new day.
Begin again
Forget yesterday’s turmoil.
Stress and strife is past
Today is a new day.
When you wake up, try not to think about what you wish you didn’t do yesterday or words you wished you hadn’t said, chores you failed to accomplish, a thank you not voiced, or a hug you missed.
Look at that sky! How can you see that photo and not be assured you can begin anew, start again, right any wrongs? You can do it! Set a new goal to enjoy life.

The story so far:
The Final Hunt
Anne and Gladys waved as the men left for their hunt. When they were out of sight, they both laughed knowing full well that none would have the heart to really shoot anything. They liked a boy’s day out as much as they liked a girl’s day in.
“So,” Fred said as they passed the gate into his family’s hunting grounds. “What do you think the girls are up to today?”
Alec laughed. “Talking about us, what else.”
Sam nodded. “Yep.”
As they walked through the fields into the tree line, the dogs’ ears’ picked up. Boy whimpered and cowered close to Fred’s legs Toby’s fur stood on edge as he stared into the woods and growled.
“Easy there,” Alec said, trying to calm him.
Sam kneeled and unzipped his gun as quietly as possible. Suddenly, both dogs were on alert as a …
Morpethroad wrote:
small, bespectacled man stepped through the bushes. The dogs were going berserk by now straining at their leashes. It was clear the dogs sensed a danger the men did not see.
The man walking towards them was squinting as he approached as he had the sun in his eyes.
“Good afternoon,” he said as he drew near, “your dogs won’t bite will they? I do have a fear of them.”
Sam stood with his gun in his hands unsure of what he was seeing and hearing. The place they were in was a piece of rugged bushland, no one lived there because it was the family’s hunting grounds and it was considered unsafe to even camp on the land for any reason at all.
Fred was trying his best to hold onto his dog, and Alec held firm on Toby’s collar. Once the small man came within a few feet of the hunting party, they could see…
Pensitivity101 continues:
he was holding something in a plastic bag.
Fred lost his grip and Boy lunged at the man who dropped the bag on the ground and threw his arms up to protect his face.
Fred was afraid they would have to shoot the dog but Boy wasn’t interested in the man at all, just the bag, which he snatched up and obediently brought back to his master.
The little man was shaking with fear as Sam reached out his hand to help him up.
‘You realise you’re trespassing don’t you?’ he said.
The man straightened his glasses and collected himself.
‘I’m sorry about that, but we’d received a report………..’
‘We? Who is we? and what are you doing here? You could have been shot!’
Fred had taken the bag out of Boy’s mouth and stared at the contents in disbelief.
‘Guys? I think you need to look at this…………………….’
My contribution;
Sam and Alec stepped forward to take a look at what was in the bag. Fred’s hand ,clutching the bag was trembling. The bag contained a severed hand, the digits were shaped like a claw. But it was like no human had they had ever seen. It was like it belonged to someone very big and skinny.
Whe……, Ahm …Where did you find this? Alec uttered the question through vocal cords which were refusing to cooperate. Sam and Fred were looking askance at the stranger. The whole situation had taken on a nightmarish quality.
The man, again made an attempt to introduce himself. “I am Bennett, from The Agency of Alien Detection, TAAD. We received the alien activity signals from this area and a party has been investigating the situation. This is part of the remains we were able to recover. Do you have any information regarding this?”
The three men stared at him with gapping mouth and glazed looks. Who would in their right mind would believe this man. But the evidence was in their hands.
Sam took the bag from Fred and was going to examine it closely when……
(My section)
…when the bag’s contents started moving. The claw-like severed hand was scratching at the plastic bag. Sam dropped it like a hot potato! The boys started to freak out and started to whimper. The spectacled man even stepped back. “Oh my”, Bennett stuttered, “I thought it was , uh, uh, dead!”
Sam kept his gun at the ready. There was no way this “thing” was going to hurt the boys. Bennett fumbled nervously in his pocket to retrieve what looked like a cell phone, but was actually a communicator to the rest of the landing crew. His face seemed to change shape a bit and he started to adjust his hair. Sam looked at the little man with more than just curiosity. Who was this guy, really?
Sending this on to Fandango: https://fivedotoh.wordpress.com.

A quick insightful read from Frank Prem. Check out poetry on his website here: https://frankprem.wordpress.com. I was delighted to receive this book from Amazon yesterday. I enjoy Frank’s observance of every day things and this anthology of growing up brought back memories of my own childhood. I enjoyed it very much!
