Page 173, Line 4 – Revenge is Never Sweet

“H is for Hawk” by Helen Macdonald

She left the room in typical “style, heel-bow, soaking up g-force like a” scorned woman out for revenge. And she was. This would be the last time George would betray her. After seeing him with that woman again, she was finally angry enough to see him for what he was, a philanderer.

Marie had known him only a short while before they actually were close. She observed him as most other women on campus, with the curious eye of temptation. She had heard the rumors, but when actually finding herself drawn to him, she set those aside.

Thinking this day how stupid that was, how naive she had been, she was almost more angry with herself than him. A brief encounter she could forgive, but watching them today, she knew her own relationship with him was done. Marie spent the next few hours maliciously contemplating exactly how she would exact her retaliation. Presumably George had no knowledge she had found him out, or maybe he didn’t care. Either way, he was going to pay.

Before this interlude, Marie had busied her off hours as a nurse’s aide at the local free clinic. It was there Marie found a devious solution. Some of these women were living dangerous lives and Marie preyed on one of them to accomplish her plan. Devising a meet between George and the woman was the easy part. Convincing the woman to complete the act required to infect an unknowing man, George, was the difficult part. Between listening to Marie’s story and a very large sum of compensation, the deal was set.

MLMM Bonus Wordle – J

I hate to rebuke your jackassery, but could you please stop that jittery jostling?

I agree you need some sort of jolification on this journey, but no matter what jaded junk they serve us, we need to remain calm.

Being jealous of people in first class will only lessen this joyride. And remember, if this joint is jeopardized and takes a nosedive, they’ll be the first ones jettisoned into lalaland.

Navy, record, cowboy- acquiesce, testify, resort

****

The old Navy veteran sidled up to the bar and leaned in to get the barkeep’s attention. “Hey, Joe, any Seals in here tonight? Those young fellers think they’re the cat’s pajamas!”

Joe just smiled, he knew the war hero was just kidding. Jack actually admired the new generation of the military, but often referred to them as “cowboys“. Jack was a Navy veteran of forty years, and had a well respected record in dives off foreign coasts. He was always at Joe’s bar late evening to have a drink before walking home.

Being a warehouse guard during the three to eleven shift, he acquiesced to his now ordinary life, but often regaled his active military days at the bar. The younger generation would gather round and listen to Jack testify to the dangers of his experiences. Once in a while Jack would resort to letting the younger ones tell their tales, but most of them were active military and had to be closemouthed about their current activities.

Each night after they all finished their stories and the bar closed, one of the young cowboys made sure Jack got home safely.

FOWC with Fandango — Resort

Sunday Photo Fiction – 1-27-19

Tangled above

Tangled by side

Hurry the path

For a smoother ride

Look towards the outlet

Long way to be seen

Endless, narrowly mean

Stay on the plain, only option

Tangled brambles frequent caution

Keep low, try not to fright

Keep your eyes to the right

Tread lightly, quickly to the end

The ivied tangles–not your friend.

Saturday Lament : )

Who was awake till two, my eyes had sticks!

Who woke to garbage truck noise at six?

Who misplaced the coffee filter in the pot?

Water for four–now it’s not!

Who has company coming soon?

Who wants to hide out in their room?

Cold, high winds, snow on the ground

No weather for scooting around

Guess I’ll just sit and wait

What to do I’ll contemplate.

I know! Games and movies on the tube

Or would that be incredibly rude?

Whole cup of water disappeared

In the coffee pot, now that’s just weird

I’ll think I’ll have a cup anyway

It will help me make it through this day

Just thought, I need something for our lunch

Soup and salad easy, and I have a bunch.

There’s the door knock, “hey, come in!

Happy to see you” I say with a grin.

MLMM Wordle 219

Yesterday, even the labrythine clouds held hollow trails for the lone kestrel. Small animal quarries gather under juniper brambles as the predator approaches above. It is the anathema of these tiny rodents, the dystopia of their daily lives, causing constant entropy.

The kestrels’ malengine viciousness is just a fact of his nature, as is the indelible need to hunt to survive. It is a primordial instinct that dictate their nomadic migration.

The diet of the kestrel does not include the chrysalis of certain insects, but it does feast on the grasshopper, or weary lizard basking on a sunwarmed xenolith. The wiser residual silouettes of tiny scramblers hide, while the transparency of the more obdurate rodents have zero chance of escaping the feathered predator.

JuJoJa 26 – SoCS

Just to balance out the week, Friday’s JJJ prompt, I have to mention that finally a reprieve of sorts is happening with the US government shutdown.

Despite the wealthy, unconcerned, have no clue what it’s like to live on a normal income arses in our country (I used arse because the English version just sounds more polite) there is a temporary solution.

Of course the permanent solution would be to have a different leader in our nation that doesn’t throw tantrums when he doesn’t get his way. The residents of border areas think the wall is ridiculous. I think even his supporters are beginning to wake up.

That said, I must add that the ads seen on WP blog posts are getting a little out of hand. And the editing process many times results in being kicked off altogether. Or is it me, again? After all, it is 2019AD, so let’s show our intelligence instead of our ignorance.
