I am a widow since 2013 and live by myself in a small apartment. I use a wheelchair to get around, but I wouldn't consider myself disabled. I'm 11 years away from having bladder cancer resulting in a urostomy and I'm doing well. This cancer was a result of having radiation in 1995 because of uterine cancer. So have faith in yourself, a cancer diagnosis is not a death sentence. My first try at blogging was an attempt to help other people with my condition. I am a mother of three married children, and a grandmother to eight gorgeous kids, featuring them often here, and a great grandmother to two as of today, 6/7/25! I enjoy exploring my feelings and like to try the challenges. I like humor, music, movies, games, and some sports. I absolutely appreciate your reading and commenting on my blog. I am happy to read all of your blogs and learn more about you. Please comment however you like, ask whatever, and I'll answer honestly. Thanks for reading! Cheryl
I tried to find the line Mae West supposedly said to W.C. Fields – βCome up and see me sometimeβ only to find it was said to Cary Grant in β She Done Him Wrongβ 1933.
β
As kids my sisters and I would act out Mae Westβs lines.π
βAndrew is successful, attractive, and charming, but people of that age always have secretsβ. That was the whisper Margaret told Eva, because Eva had started to fall for Andrew. Eva ignored the comment and walked off, slid onto the barstool next to Andrew and tweaked his thigh. Margaret just rolled her eyes.
βWeβre going to sit here and follow what the young kids are doing. Itβs a protest. No fighting, just us sitting here, not working, and trying to convince the management we are serious.β
A manager comes out of his office and observes the men just sitting there instead of working. βYou boys realize you arenβt getting paid today. How long can you keep this up? Donβt you want to feed your families?β
Joe speaks up. βWhen are you going to listen to our grievances? Your competitors are making money and youβre not, as long as you canβt produce! At least you can talk with us!β
I am touched when on a whim I read comments on old blog posts. They are ones suggested because they might relate to the current post and most which Iβve forgotten over time. It is a pleasure to see and feel that presence. My readership is always kind, makes me smile even if we disagree and over all lights up my days. I love the photos, stories, poems, all of the efforts made by you all, and prompters, the work and time put in to administer to us as bloggers. I blog and honestly put forth my bits of writing because it stretches my memory and mind. At my age I need to keep busy, speaking out as I feel to closed minds. We all need to use our voices for change.
The foggy scene meddles with an unpleasant memory in my mind, thoughts once forgotten and then the vision clears. A new journey begins, the past is left behind and the future is bright.
