SYW 3-27-23

1. Do you have a lot of friends or do you know a lot of people ?
2. If you are at a party and know very few of the guests, do you mingle and introduce yourself, sit on the sidelines and people watch, or discreetly leave?
3. What is the best job you have ever had?
4. Can you swim?

1. Friends are spread out over the country but I consider bloggers friends from all over the world too. Here where I am now my daughter is my best friend.

2. I mingle.

3. Delivering flowers—a temp job on busy holidays.

4. Yes I can swim but since I’ve had the ostomy in 2015 I never do.

Gratitude this week is the same old same old- family😂

The Sunday Whirl

Her mind was raw, her body bone-weary, and the rushes to believe the scandals, even from whom she thought of as friends, was too much. She could hear their whispers, spiraling the layers of supposed secret truths. They landed light as a feather on her shoulders but left a permanent non healing scar.

Rory’s Dawdler

1. You’d have to ask a three year old.
2. Being with family. Eating lunch in a drivethru. Eating dinner in a restaurant. Reading or watching a book/show that has all the good elements, wit and humor preferred. Laughing with my daughter and her daughters.
3. Of course and help them achieve them if possible.
4. Honestly? Not very well. I grew up with it and as an old adult I don’t want to hear it.
5. Yes!
6. To look disgusting.
7. I don’t know.
8. I listen to lots of audio books but I like Netflix for the fact they don’t charge extra fees to watch movies.
9. I suppose. I’m not a patient person!

MLMM Saturday Mix

She gritted her teeth and began the climb. This wasn’t the first time she had fallen out of the chair, and probably not the last. She of course knew better than to bend down low to retrieve something she dropped. It had started to be more frequent as arthritic fingers refused to cooperate. If she left it on the floor she’d probably just roll over it and cause a bigger mess, but she was really looking forward to it. When taking the foil covering off the mini peppermint candy, the chocolate disk popped out to the floor. She was short and the chair was too. She wasn’t exactly hurt, yet. Foolishness aside, she now had to figure a way to get back up into the chair. She placed the chair against the cupboards, locked the wheels, and shifted to a closer position. She could do this, had to, because no way was she calling 911 to say she’d fallen and couldn’t get up. Her grandson, a firefighter, told her that many of their calls are for that reason. Her arms were strong, legs useless, but determination was her savior.

The Cat’s Meow

I sit here above you all

Prevalent in thought

Adoption from a caged hell

Stay masked as I was taught

But I look at you with a depiction

Your superiority merely fiction

Feline wiles are a true fact

You cannot outthink a cat.

SoCS 3-25-23

The last thing I emptied was a cup of hot coconut latte. Trying to watch a soccer game on the NFHS network- another debacle that seems to be the norm now with this app. Details too frustrating to get into. Cold and windy here, snow on ground, but not bad and I wonder if we’ll see spring anytime soon…

Smooth Move

Joe’s angry behavior lately was not an inherent trait. In today’s encounter with his mother-in-law, he hoped the news would soothe the entire situation. The need to be polite and placid was on the agenda and even his wife would be pleased. The announcement Joe and his family would be moving to another state, many miles away from this constant irritant would calm his mind and result in a jovial marriage from now on.
