It was not her usual saunter
She knew she shouldn’t be there
The free ticket she was offered
To no new frontier, but a lair
Previous redemption fluttered through her mind
She worked hard to achieve that goal
But loneliness threw itself, to be confined
Settling inside her heart and took its toll
She saw the temptation
Rising from his seat
She knew she should not
Should make a quick retreat
He hurried over, seemed pleased to see her now
Unfortunately for her, she forgot her sacred vows.

A baby engulfs the sunshine of your heart. The total innocence of the sleeping babe who gently drifts into dreamland captures a promise and bond of everlasting love. After a splashing bath, shampoo and giggly towel dry off, watching over him as he gently achieves a deep rest, your aim is simply to love and protect this tiny being.

My gratitude this week is apparently my new upstairs neighbor is a quiet couple. The person previously above me moved down to my first floor but luckily to the end of the hall. Her grandkids still run wild in that hall but at least no “dropping a bowling ball” noise on my ceiling. And my daughter is back to work today recovered almost completely from her surgery.🥰

Sunny cold
Trees quiet
Melting snow
Donning sweater
Stepping out
Patio planters turned over
Wind damage two days ago
Spring is coming
A foolish thought
Back inside
Start coffee machine
Sigh…

Joe decides to build his own mast
Using balsa wood for the task
His sail of course drooped
The deck also pooped
Hope sailed and his failure was cast

Humans began building structures for shelter roughly 300,000 to 500,000 years ago, evolving from using natural caves to creating huts from branches, animal hides, and bones. Houses are more than just the walls around us or the roof over our heads, as they are places where we feel comfortable and we connect to them because we feel that is where we belong.

Coming Home. Song by Old Dominion ‧ 2024
… I’ve been so many miles
I’ve done forgot how long I’ve been gone
I’ve worn a hole right through my soul and both these shoes I’ve got on
I ran the streets, I’ve shot the breeze
I’ve seen the world but found out
My ragged heart’s still on a string that’s tied to you
… And, I’m on my way (hey), I’m almost there
I look like hell, baby, but I don’t care
Take out your best dress, leave it on the floor
I’m coming in hot, baby, can’t wait no more, yeah
… So baby leave the light on, and let your hair down
I’m your midnight rider, it won’t be long now
Been driving all night, so Katy bar the door
Gonna hold you tight, so hold the phone
Gonna kiss you like I’m coming home from war
… You kept a candle in the window, waiting, burning for me
I’m turning home
I’ll turn you on as soon as I turn the key
Your gravity is pulling me, you’re all I need
… I’m on my way (hey), I’m almost there
I look like hell, baby, but I don’t care
Yeah, this old highway is through with me
Yeah, there’s a million winding roads
But, just one place I wanna be
… So baby leave the light on, and let your hair down
I’m your midnight rider, it won’t be long now
Been driving all night, so Katy bar the door
Gonna hold you tight, so hold the phone
Gonna kiss you like I’m coming home from war
… I’m on my way
Hey, hey
I’m on my way
… So baby leave the light on, and let your hair down
I’m your midnight rider, it won’t be long now
Been driving all night, so Katy bar the door
Gonna hold you tight, so hold the phone
Gonna kiss you like I’m coming home from war
… Just like I’m coming home from war
I’m on my way
I’m on my way

No Place Like It

Okay, when you get there, just text me.
My phone won’t work down there.
Ok, then just give me a sign, I’ll be waiting.
Joe lowered himself slowly into the cave, not expecting it to be filled with roaring sea water.
Joe tried yelling for help when the rope broke, but the water muffled his voice.
When Mike felt the rope suddenly go slack he knew it was not a good sign.

Sunday’s Six Sentence Story Prompt Word!

As we grew nearer to the rock, too large it seemed to be what our guide said it was – a map of symbols, now covered by a shroud, when the trail narrowed and the sun mysteriously to dull. The guide’s promise was after we crossed the water barrier, the sun painting would become clear to us. We all expected to see artifacts and ancient hieroglyphics, but the huge sun symbol was intriguing. From that area, tracks on the path led us to a moon sign, not an historical image, but placed next to what appeared to be a hand hewn spear, free standing on the side. The guide assured us it was authentic, stolen from a cave hundreds of years ago, but how many other tourists had walked by it, probably touching it? Later as our group discussed the tour, we decided most of what we saw was definitely not the real thing.
