Current is an excellent word to describe life as you age. I have been adrift a few times after 2013 when my husband passed away. And I’m not saying he controlled my life and then I was somehow unmoored, no it was circumstance all the way, or maybe fate? Life had become more difficult as I had become unable to drive and ended up in a wheelchair, using a scooter, etc, before in 2010-2012. The family around me all changed and I became a willing resident of Wyoming in 2014. I had no idea what I was getting into, such as constant wind, ‘ol boy mentality complete with gun toting even at the grocery store atmosphere. I’ll just let that sink in. Then four months later I got cancer again, so yes, the current keeps flowing and if you can’t or won’t hold your head above water, you’ll drown…in self pity, fear of the future,remorse, etc. You can’t possibly choose that, so you float, bobbing up to the top with positivity, and support and love of family and friends.
