I bought a useful product about 15 years ago. It has served me well and now it’s given up the ghost, as my mom used to say, which actually doesn’t make any sense. If you’re no longer useful/alive, wouldn’t you turn into the ghost? The product is a handheld Dyson vacuum. It worked great, lots of suction and lightweight but strong. Somehow the main compartment where it connects to the motor, cracked so the seal is broken. I’m so sad but I guess everything has a shelf life.
As far as the ghost phrase is concerned, some say it means giving up your spirit when you take your last breath.

I won a Morphy Richards hairdryer in a competition in 1965. My Mum was still using it in 2017.
