This week, write a syllabic poem of your choice.
You can use the kigo words from last week’s post, or select kigo words from the 500 Kigo Words PDF. The kigo words are optional.
If you decide to use kigo words (they’re optional) choose your favorite season from the 24 Seasons HERE.

Summer sun I miss your heat
Autumn sun has cooler heat
Flowers nodding in cold rain
Geese flying to a new reign
Crows alighting scarecrow forms
October ghosts return to their norms
Crops of pumpkins start to flourish
While tomatoes no longer nourished
Bright vivid blooms start fading
Greener grasses now degrading
As leaf showers fall into piles
Causing jumping children’s smiles
No longer swimming in a pool
Time to return to school
There’s a sadness in the air
When one season to new compared.

I love the passage of one season into the next. There’s something magical in that in in-between period. You captured that passage perfectly, Cheryl. Thanks so much for writing poetry with me for the 24 Seasons of Japan. 🧡

Cheryl, when the summer has been so extreme, it is natural to compare the next season to it. I like how you worded your last line.
