Vermont summer solstice invokes a strength of will—will I wait until evening to brave the heat or go out in early morning?
the barefoot pleasure
early morning dew on grass
toes sink in cool green
address the chores before heat
fireflies enjoyed at night

We were out “catching” fireflies the other night.

The humidity! Just kidding, without the moisture the other doesn’t thrive.

Very very nice. Best get the chores done before the heat and enjoy the fireflies at night with a glass of wine (if you drink)!

Enjoyed this!! And reminded of growing up in the Midwest, those long hot, humid unbearable days of August. Cheers and stay cool.

A delightful tanka-prose that captures the dilemna of this year’s solstice. We’re supposed to get 94 degrees F in my neck of “New York’s Backyard!”

It doesn’t get too hot for long here in Cheyenne, and it’s very dry, but always wind☺️
